Steve McQueen drive a 917 in the movie LeMans not a GT 40. The I beleive is 1074 Wiers car that Ikes drove to the 69 LeMans win.

I don't think the article says it was used IN the movie, but used to help FILM the movie.

"was bought by McQueen as a camera car"

"had the GT40's roof removed and the doors hacked up to fit cameras and other gear"

Yes, it was the camera car used in the filming of Lemans.. Google search "Lemans camera car GT40" and you will see a lot of images of that car..

I had the pleasure of visiting that car up close on a trip to Scottsdale a couple years ago. Very nice.

guys, it was the camera car that they chopped the roof off of so that the camera would fit. It was the only thing except for maybe a 917 that could keep up with the cars while they drove at speed while filming.

then, they reattached the roof.

gorgeous car.

Over 200 million dollars worth of cars sold in Monterey over the weekend. That awesome GT 40 was only one.

Someone needs to tell these guys there's a recession taking place.
