Bristol - Nascar Modifieds Perfect Storm 150 Wed on Speed
I posted a couple weeks back that I had a change to go and crew on my buddies Nascar Modified down at Bowman Gray. This week they are at Bristol Wednesday night and will be live on speed.
I am hitting the road today after lunch and will be at the track tomorrow and Wednesday. Tomorrow we just have tech and a few other things, and then Wednesday we start at 6:30 am with two practice sessions in the morning, qualifying in the afternoon, and the race at 6.
Look for the #37 Aftershock Racing team driven by Joe Scarbrough, thats the pits I will be in.

That's kinda like rocket cars going around Daytona. There are several youtube vids which are just crazy. I think one was from Ted Christopher and there was one of Ryan Newman, both demo how wild that place can get.
Thanks guys, made it to the hotel about an hour ago. Tomorrow to the track around noon for tech. Real fun on Wed, we have to be at the track at 6:30am.
Good thing I am too psyched to sleep lol

I would be the same way. After is a problem too. If you're not still excited from the visual stimulation, the ringing ears will not let you forget the event. I was there a few years ago for a NW/Cup weekend and even with great hearing protection I was hearing race cars for days.
Good luck hope you guys do well! Looks like TC has a ride in the #3 and I hope he does well too. Enjoy the experience. One of these days I need to get down there to see the modifieds run. Bucket list for me...

Hey guys, just got home a little while ago, long day yesterday, sad to say we weren't able to get into the field. We knew with the combined North and South field it was going to be tough especially with a small budget team, and hoped we might be able to still sneak in with a provisional, though a few DNFs at the start of the year hurt us there as well.
Anyhow, we would have been the 37th car in the field, Lia crashed on the 2nd qualifying lap, so originally Nascar told us we had the 36th and final starting spot. About an hour before the race, Nascar pulled our driver and crew chief aside and told us that Lia was trying to get a back up car ready and if they got through tech by 5:10 then he would go to the back of the field and we were out. Lia's team did a great job of getting the other car ready and got through tech with about a minute to spare putting us back on the trailer.
Still a great experience though, the place is amazing, intimidating as hell, and I give Joe and the whole team a lot of credit just getting there and running. We also were in the garage right next to Ryan Newman which was pretty cool. My mom is a big Nascar fan and sent me a text asking me to tell him I said hello, so before the race went over, wished him luck, shook his hand, and told him that while my mom said hello, lol.

Russ, where you down there buddy? Wish I had known would have loved to say hello, lol and maybe you can give us some tips on suspension set -ups.
As for putting us on the trailer, I don't blame you guys one bit. I'm still a little confused as to how Nascar ever had us in the race, by my way of thinking you guys qualified on Lap 1 and where in the race unless you couldn't start. I just fault the Nascar guys for saying we were in when the truth was that we were out unless you guys couldnt get fixed or into a back-up.
As for that lap 3 mess, at least Lia missed that, really nasty stuff.
Will you be at Thompson in a few weeks?
