It all depends on your relation with the distributor, because snap on's warranty will cover damaged (broken), but will not cover usual wear. for exemple they will exchange a broken socket, but will not exchange one that has been worn out over time. At least its my experience with them up here.
cheers

Trying to figure out why Snap On should be held responsible for tools that are not well cared for... Remember that those dealers are all individual businesses with families to feed.
Try cleanin those tools up in a pan on white vinegar and then hit them with WD40...

Well they haven't been abused. Just sitting in one of my toolboxes in the garage....in Arizona, ya know, that dry state?
Just 5 are doing it, none of the others (at all).
Thanks for the white vinegar tip. Never heard of that before.
If it's just surface rust, Boeshield makes an excellent rust removal product called Rust Free that is very easy on the parts and your hands. Follow it up with a shot of T-9.

Do you know any pharmacists? They get desiccant packs in all of the shipments that they receive. My daughter saves them for me and ships me a 5-lb box once or twice a year. I just toss a few into each one of the drawers in my tool boxes and haven't had any rusting trouble at all.

Thanks for the "no", I was still wondering, and definitely thanks for all of the helpful tips.
I learn little gems constantly on here, and ... some things I wish I hadn't.

Not quite.
A buddy of mine (mechanic) was over and saw the rust and made a comment that the Snap-On rep should replace mine since he has replaced some of his tools with rust, no questions asked. That got me wondering if his get replaced because he buys so much, or is that just normal. I had never heard of them replacing rusted tools, just broken or damaged ones. So I figured I'd ask here if anyone knew for sure. The suggestions on how to rid the rust will work fine for me.
Been ten years since I got to deal with a Snap-On dealer, but they used to replace tools with worn/chipped chrome, nevermind rusted. One dealer I had would go through my toolbox on his own looking for things he could warranty. Oh and they submit claims to Snap-On to be paid for warranties, at least that is how it used to be, so don't feel bad about looking to get warranty on an extremely overpriced tool. You paid for the warranty and service up front when you bought the tools.
I've been replacing rusted, pitted, chrome chipped Snap On tools for 40years. There is NO CHARGE and if the "local truck dealer" won't replace them, ask for his territory representative. They are covered.
