"Considering the car ran over his foot at about 2 mph, that may have been a disproportionate use of force"
The writer obviously doesn't know that the speed doesn't really matter and that it hurts more at a 2 mph speed than say a 10 mph speed because the weight of car has more time to turn your foot into a pancake. No matter what, a car driving over your foot hurts like hell, especially when you scream to stop, and so your father parks right on top of your foot. 5 seconds with a car parked on your foot feels like 5 minutes.
That Officer reacted VERY calmly to the situation. He had to be resisting a nice right hook. I hope they charge him with aggravated assault on an Officer and resisting arrest. What a fvcking prick.

Well the cop is a bone head. watch the video. He sees the guy get into the car and then actually sticks his foot in front of the car. Now I don't know about you, but that cop must not watch TV. 'Cause I've seen it a million times. People always try to get away from a ticket or getting towed. So why in Gods name would you actually place your foot in front of a vehicle (Twice) that the guy is obviously about to try to move. As soon as it started up the cop should have stepped back. Any normal person would. But keep watching because I think the cop actually does move his foot. I call fake. I bet the cop never got his foot run over. Really watch his foot it does a little dance and moves to his rear.....fake...fake.....fake.....Workmans comp claim. I'd show that video at my court hearing....

I agree with the cop. The policeman put his foot there purposefully to stop the driver. It was a form of passive restraint in the same way that cops form a line that you dare not cross. The driver crossed it and committed a felony.

It was kind of fun to see Mr Hot $hit with his face down on the pavement with the cuffs on for the world to see. He was parked where he shouldn't have been so he should have taken the ticket and moved on, like a man. He made a mountain out of a mole hill by being an ass.
Driver was an idiot and the cop was a prick. Put 'em together and you get what you see.
The foot was just a typical cop move like standing close to the door when he commands you to get out. If it touches him its vehicular assault and he tases you. Don't get out and its resisting arrest and he tases you. Cop stops you and calls you back, your car is now an abandoned vehicle and has it towed. Ask a question and it obstructing justice. Someone films anything with a cop in it and its a felony. Etc. Etc. Cops have a thousand things they can do to steer any situation.
The idiot driver just gave him a open reason to do whatever the cop wanted.
The real injustice was done to the Ferrari. Poor car.

Cops stand in front of vehicles all the time to stop them from moving off. He moves the first time up against the fender showing the driver hey do not move. He ignored it and tried to go around. He was warned and rolled forward again, at that point he knew what he was doing and broke the law. Whether he ran over the foot is real hard to see, but if he did I am shocked the cop used his fist on the window and not his flashlight.

I don't think he actually ran over his foot, but probably did smoosh it a little running the tire up onto/against his arch. The cop even warned him he was about to run over his foot and he continued to roll forward. Douchbag richy-rich thinking he's above the law and a cop that could have stopped the driver without actually getting hurt by standing in front and not using his foot as a wheel chock.
The one part concerning the cop's behavior I never care for is when they curse.
To me, it implies they are letting their emotions override their training and blemishes their image.

I'm with you ! THAT WAS VERY DUMB .First ,the guy is not going to get away ,especially in that car. the cop is just looking for time off and a great civil deal.Typical
I bet if that was a 72 V Dub ,there would never be a dirty shoe.

I call bs on the cop. Had something similar happen except we were in a parking lot and i blocked the car as my little ones were behind me. I couldn't get my foot out and the guy wouldn't move the car, so like the cop pounded on the car until the guy moved. Cops said if i didn't go to the hospital there was nothing he could do. Plus i could be charged for hitting the guys car. Guess this cop knows how to work the system.

Let's forget the perp (don't like him, although his girl looks hot) and don't like the cop either (can we all spell, together now, ANGLINGFORAPERMANENTDISABILITYCLAIM. Thank you.)
On to the important stuff: all these gearhead responses, and nobody's pointed out yet that it wasn't a Spider!

Dumb move on the Ferrari owner's part - if he can afford a Ferrari, he can afford a lawyer to get the ticket thrown out. I don't think he ran over the cops foot - the cop warned him, and when he rolled forward, the cop now has a reason to do what he did. Douche bag Ferrari owner, and seemed excessive reaction by the cop. But I'm not a cop, so what do I know.

We all agree the punk is a punk ,but this IS a PARKING VIOLATION not a murder.
mis-handled by the cop.
He could have let him drive off and create another violation -done, but the cop did create another problem for the city - the city will have to pay this cop to watch TV for the rest of his life and replace him with another cop.
I would have warned him and let him drive away ,then picked him up AND the car a few blocks up .
the city gets serious fine money and a $250,000 car ,instead we have a cop that retires early and costs the city $90,000 a year for the next 30 years.
Who drives a 458 in the POT -HOLED/Traffic ridden city anyway?
This is an epidemic ......dumb-asses everywhere!
I'm moving to China where capitalism is growing ,not disgraced.

Cop using his body parts to stop a car..Genius! He probably jay walks regularly, and people have always stopped for him in the past..
Why wouldn't he have simply ordered the fellow to, "shut it off", the second he started it, or even said, "Hold on a minute", as he saw the driver entering the car?
As for the driver, he obviously see's the cop writing him a ticket. Is he so stupid to think that the ticket would become immediately invalid if he was to simply drive away..?
A serious over-reaction from the cop. I think he should have given the driver at least a little time to step out of the car. Time for some anger management training..Surprised he didn't just shoot the driver..
I drove away from a traffic agent who was giving me a ticket in NYC about 20 years ago. No worries, they just sent it to me about 3 months later with an additional $120 in "late" fees tacked on. Learned that lesson quick!
The Ferrari guy was arrogant and clearly has no respect for the cop's authority. In NYC...he's lucky all he got was a mild beatdown. That really wasn't worth it. How can you be smart enought to obtain a Ferrari (even if it's your girlfriend's) and still be dumb enough to attempt to elude a cop...not even a ticket agent...but a COP! Not smart.
I do think the cop did a little acting also. One of my close friend's got disability from the force 3 years ago for a similar incident. He was only a cop for about 5 years. Now he just goes to dinner and travels the world (literally) at 38 years old on his steady $8,000 a month income from the dept.
I suspect that if that happens there will be a counter suit filed, and the only ones that will get any $$$ will be the lawyers.
I didn't see the Ferrari ever back up, so if the guys foot was really run over to the point that it would have even bruised him, then he likely wouldn't have been able to move as his fott would have been UNDER the tire.
Driver was an Ftard, but the officer deliberately escalated the situation. I'm surprised he didn't jump on the hood, pull out his gun, and kill the driver!
Wasn't it also reported that the driver did not illegally park? I thought the hotel valet pulled his car up and parked it there while he was checking out.

Look again buddy, it is a Spider. Must be one of the early deliveries in the US. The 458 Spider has a retractable hard top. When the camera goes to the side of the car at the end you can see the break lines in the top and notice the little triangle window behind the drivers window you would normally see on a 458 is gone.

Don't parking tickets go to the car owner, no matter who parked it?
Municipalities don't get involved in the minutiae.

More proof that this was just another power hungry cop looking to take out his anger on someone. Valet parks car at front of hotel for guest and a cop sees an opportunity to feel special.

A little update to the story.....the only thing that can alleviate his pain and suffering is $10 million
That explains why the cop moved so close and stuck his foot out The two of them deserve each other.
