Wow, so much silliness in this thread I don't know where to begin.
Go personal and the thread is toast.

Wouldn't your post be considered "going personal" by calling a thread with many posts silly? I know I take it personally if someone calls my opinion silly when I am being serious.

You bring up an interesting point but please read again Steven. I didn't call the thread silly.
And the number of posts has nothing to do with the degree of silliness possible. I don't think there's any criteria that says after a certain number of posts, it can no longer be silly. That would be, if you'll please pardon me for getting a little silly, silly.
Going personal would be a direct attack on you, not your opinion. Per the rules we follow here, your opinion is fair game. Calling someone a name is not. For instance, I can tell you I think your opinion is silly, but I can't tell you you're silly.
And on things you take personally, well, you're the only one who has control of that. That's a choice you're free to make, I'm not involved. For instance, I don't take your questioning my post, personally. I appreciate members who want to help shape this forum.
Hope this helps clarify. Thanks for your interest. Keep posting, we need you!

When a post starts with something like "Wow, so much silliness in this thread I don't know where to begin", you are calling the people who have posted opinions contrary to yours silly, which is insulting and condecending. The definition of silly is "Having or showing a lack of common sense or judgment; foolish". To me, your post could be taken as a personal insult to anyone who has posted something they truly believe and are not just trying to be comical. Just because you didn't name anyone doesn't mean you have not personally insulted anyone, anyone reading your post could easily figure out who you think is "silly" just by looking at valid opinions opposite of yours.
Ironicly, the turn this thread has taken and some of the responses to that change of direction demonstrates the point brought up in the beginning---that being that some people are able to find a way to be offended or feel slighted by almost anything!
So true, so true. This is what our society has become. Can anyone say PC.

The fact that I can find opinions that differ from mine to be silly should come as no surprise to anyone who's been on this forum for a while. Guilty!
How many times have I posted my favorite bastardization of Voltaire?
"I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to protect.... my right to laugh at it."
Along with that, I am not surprised that others might be offended by my opinions, or might think they are silly, or might even be completely indifferent to them and couldn't care less about what I think.
I acknowledge that, and it bothers me not. I'm not involved. Those are choices they choose to make.
I have plenty of my own choices to anquish over without worrying about things outside of my control.

I think everyone missed my point, so maybe I should have done a better job explaining my position, which was really just a jab at what I considered hypocrisy. But too much has been made of this already to continue.
No, I knew exactly what you meant and agreed with you. Read my first post.

If I offended anyone with a disablement, I'm Truly sorry. ...I actually have an incurable one [at least at this time] myself.
I deleted two paragraphs from this reply because 'Hunter 2' would have been on my butt about ..... , ..... and ..... regarding the 99.8% generally HEALTHY population and the extent of ADDITIONAL accommodations for that .02%.
Although I now pay for EVERYTHING I buy in USA CASH (as in paper money/Greenbacks!), most people I see pay for purchases with a swipe of a card, sign their name or enter a PIN#, and they're done.
In as much as I'm sorry that the "swipe-machines" may not be at the 'correct height' for some, this law-suit is ridiculous!
...Frankly, my 6'4" Ex-husband (sharkx), under these terms, could claim that bending down to swipe his card has caused damaged to his back!
...What are bank ATM's at brick-n-mortars supposed to do?? ...A wheelchair bound person makes it the the brick-n-mortar ATM and then sues because they can't reach the button... GIVE ME A BREAK!
SMH...if that's all you got out of my post...I guess you agree with my point also. Let me put it like this...would it be acceptable if a veteran filed the suit, or would that be "ridiculous" also?
As a Soldier and a Veteran...
It would be ridiculous too.
Could Walmart invest in a completely different system that may make it easier for some to complete debit/credit card transactions?...Yes. Should they be mandated to, or feel obligated to, through fear of a legal judgment or fear of not being perfectly politically correct?...NO!
Next, they will be sued for the top shelf being too high and not conducive to wheel-chair bound, short, elderly-electric-shopping-cart-riders, creating a potentially uncomfortable situation of having to ask someone to get an item off the top shelf.
I empathize with these customers, but don't believe that every retailer needs to completely accommodate every single potential customer. It's unrealistic. Compromises and decisions are made everyday in all businesses to meet the needs of the greatest number of its customers and potential customers to a reasonable level. That is all anyone can reasonably ask. If someone doesn't like it, there are other places to shop.
