Did I make a mistake reserving a rental car in Anaheim?
I will be in Ahaheim for a business conference. My girlfriend and I are flying in early to go to Disney and she is flying out out the day the conference begins. I rented a car for the 3 days she will be there (I figured she can drive it back to the airport). The convention center is at the hotel and my company is providing entertainment and meals including transportation, so I know I don't need the car after.
I just found out that my hotel want $28 per day for parking (more than doubling the cost of the rental) and there is no free parking for miles in any direction.
Mistake? I've never stayed at a hotel in my life that charged for parking.

It's not just the daily parking rate (plus taxes)...most of the time it is valet only, which means a tip every time you want to take the car anywhere!
What you might consider as an alternative, a lot of hotels have rental cars available right there (or nearby). If you need a car you could get it just for the day you want it.

What's my best option if the reservation can't be cancelled? Not to pick up the car?

You shouldn't have a problem canceling a car. I do it all the time when my plans change and it has never cost me a dime. Also, you will likely be shocked at the taxes and fees that are added to the rental bill. The cities have found that rental car users are a great source of revenue and do not vote in that town. My rental bill today had almost 30% additional taxes and fees.
Priceline says I can't but I will call the rental company that accepted the bid (Hertz). I am a Gold Club Card member through work.

Yep, non cancelable through either Price Line or Hertz. Unless someone knows of some really cheep parking near the convention center I am best off not picking it up and cutting my losses.

According to their website, the parking cost for self park at the Hilton (at the convention center) is $16. I don't know how close that is to whatever hotel you are staying at.
My experience with hotels is that if they can get you, they will get you. The best defense is to complain loudly and repeatedly. They typically meet me half way when I'm getting gouged.
hopefully the riots will be over when you get here. The natives are upset that a couple gang bangers were shot by the police. They like to keep it old school over there LOL.
