Vancuver landslide.....Yikes.

So watch the small boat on the shore. If those people weren't the luckiest people on earth right there....Twice......Once on shore, and then watch the logs come into the river after them....Holy crap!
Watching the other videos it seems some folks died and some were missing. But that is one Long slide.....

WOW.

Four people missing in the Johnson Landing slide, they pulled the first body out yesterday. We had way too much rain last month.

I was pretty amazed at the luck of that woman getting into the boat. Right where she was standing only seconds before a big pine came down like a fly swatter right where she was standing. If I were her I'd keep that video on constant rewind for the rest of her life, just to remind her how lucky she was.

Sorry to hear about the death. I mean not the way to go....under 3 meters of mud. Ugh. Poor families. Did it ever say how long that slide went for? Looked like a pretty intense river of mud to knock trees that bid down like that. I just can't get that out of my head this morning for some reason.

That is crazy for sure, the hillside is just gone, and as you mentioned the logs, they looked like whales breaching the way they were popping up out of the mud / lake.

Paul,
From Google maps it looks like it was 8000-9000 ft long or so.

You can see the houses from your video (magenta dots) here and the debris field that jumped the bank in blue. The red house and silver house to it's right (possibly others in the trees) were in a very bad place.

Waldo Canyon outside Colorado Springs is now going to be vulnerable to that once the rains start. Scary stuff.
