It is titled as a '49 Mercury, but Mercury never made a sedan delivery. It is actually a four-door car that has had a little cosmetic surgery. Nova subframe, Chevy 350, auto, PS, PB, sound system.
Anyway, I need someone to check it out for me, so if anyone can recommend a mechanic in the area (Dade City, Florida), I'd like to talk to him about making a trip to see the car.
I also really like this one, but I'll wait on it to see what happens with the sedan delivery.
So, guess your going for round two Joe, right? I remember the first one you got a couple of years ago that left a bad taste. I hope this time things work out better for you. Cool cars. If I were closer, I'd check em out for you. If you find anything in S. FL, let me know, and I'd be happy to help you out.

Did you try to ping Mustang Man? He's near Tampa. Not too far from there.

Sure since mrmustang looked at the last one that caught his eye
I see a theme starting here

You may want to look at this thread before bringing an out of state custom car into Massachusetts: Has anyone tried registering a street rod in Maasachusetts in 2012 yet? - THE H.A.M.B. I know you were involved in getting the SEMA law passed, but at least from these reports, it seems like it's more difficult rather than easier to register a car that wasn't titled and registered in MA prior to the April, 2012 deadline. Are you hearing anything about this?
This one pulls at my heartstrings (don't like the rims though),
but not quite my style at this point in my life as I keep looking at Lotus 7's

Rick, I'm aware of the issues, but it's really a tempest in a teapot. The car will still be emissions exempt regardless of the engine used. The registration will say "2012 Street Rod" instead of "1949 Mercury". Not really a big deal since this car ceased being a Mercury long ago.

Thanks, Joe. I've been wondering if this has just been a bunch of hysteria or whether it's a real problem.

We're now going for door #2. Everyone who's seen the picture of the sedan delivery thinks it's a chevy, so, on that basis, I'm out. Looks like I need someone in OKC to check out the smoothie.

Moon discs, so that's what their called. Me likes! Plus, I like the fact that door number two has a flathead V8 in it. Does it have AC? If not, you certainly want to add that. He's asking 44.9k for it, but I'm betting you could get it for under 40k. Bet the builder spent a small fortune on that thing. Hope it checks out ok. Cool speaker box in the back.

I'm in Dallas, but have family in OKC so go up there pretty often. How soon do you need someone to look at it?
