Charges are being filed against a Goffstown man after a motorcycle accident injured him and a passenger on I-93 on July 4.
New Hampshire State Police are reporting that Thomas W. Van Uden, 47, of Goffstown, was charged with reckless conduct and disobeying an officer. Police stated in an alert that he is also “being investigated” for aggravated driving while intoxicated.
While driving up I-93, at around 4:30 p.m. on July 4, Van Uden was allegedly clocked by police radar going 143 miles per hour while passing a trooper. Sometime after passing the trooper, heading northbound into Sanbornton, Van Uden’s motorcycle rear-ended a car.
Van Uden was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with what police are calling “serious injuries.” A woman from Manchester, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was also injured and transported to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth.
The car sustained damage but the driver was not injured.
I can tell you one thing, he didn't rear end that car at 143 mph. Looks to me like he just love tapped that car at maybe 25 mph or so. That dude is lucky he was able to slow down enough in time. If he had hit that car at 143 mph, the damage would have been far more severe, and we would of had a human bar-b-que on the highway. I hate reckless motor bike riders. No sympathy for them. I've always said that one day I'm going to be driving on the highway, while a bike flies by me at triple digit speeds, soon to find him wrecked up ahead, and half alive. Then I'll slowly drive up, put my window down, ask him if he needs help, then laugh at him and drive off. Yep, like I said, no sympathy.

Rob,
I don't know if they are still active down there but when I lived in S Florida the Miami zoo crew were always doing stupid stuff on I95 while I was commuting.

I saw a fatal sportbike accident a couple of months ago. The wife and I are coming home from the Keys on the turnpike doing about 70-75 MPH and 2 sport bikes pass us at 150+ hard to tell exactly but they had to be doing at least 60-70 over what we were. Scared the crap out of me as I had no idea they were coming. About 30 seconds later another pair comes by at the same speed,, again these guys are flying. I’m in the middle lane they pass on my right,, there is traffic a ways up ahead,,, they drift to the far left lane. Ahead of them there is one vehicle in the fast lane and one in the middle lane but they are close together. I can’t tell how close together they were as they are a ways up there, but they are close. The two bikes head for them, I assuming thinking they can weave their way through them or maybe split them. I see some smoke,, maybe locking up the brakes,, then a huge explosion as one of the bikes looks to hit the back of a truck although I can’t be exactly sure which vehicle he hit. Debris all over three lanes, what’s left of the bike and rider in the very small medium strip.
There was a big bike road racing event at Miami Homestead that weekend. I can’t help but think this unfortunate soul was some young guy that was amped up from watching road racing all weekend. Got out on the turnpike and turned up the wick. Too bad he didn’t limit it to the track. Even Valentino Rossi would have problems with the rolling chicane which is south Florida traffic and there is no room for error at those speeds.
I've worked a number of high speed motorcycle collisions (including a large number of fatalities.) It's absolutely amazing how much damage that a human body can sustain and still be recognizable. Not much left though.

Ya know I was going to post this very same thing tonight, seeing as it happened up here in the Boonies, but I had thought about it and decided not to post my thoughts on this idiot. To me if you want to kill yourself at 140+ fine. But to have a passenger on the back of a sport bike seat like that one....No F'n way. What a duechbag. I hope the passenger sues that nutbags ass off. Oooooooo can you see why I didn't start this thread....... Just like I might do some not so smart passing in the Cobra when I am by myself. But when I have a passenger or my wife in the car, I try to behave myself.....

Agreed Paul. I hate these douche bags as well, which is why I have no sympathy for them. Hopefully the chlorine will flush that gene pool clean.

Fred, I've been on I-95 countless times, and have experienced those nuts flying by me as I was standing still as well. Nut jobs!

Down the street from me a few years ago, a guy on a sportbike was doing a wheelie at night moving into an intersection. A car turned into his path, the driver couldn't see any headlight, as it was pointed up into the sky. The bike came down on top of the car, rider died on the spot. I can't tell you how many times I've seen guys doing wheelies at 50+ MPH, in traffic. Boggles the mind...how long do they really expect to get away with that, without hurting/killing themselves or others?
