I got a camera with 35x zoom? Whet down to a local park today (Lac Leamy) with the roadster and figured I would snap a few shots of the wildlife. So these two come waddling down the beach...
Right in front of me and up the walkway 4 ft away...
When they are coming in by the thousands on your decoys
What you have actually documented is the way the welfare system works. We have this problem in the local parks up here in Minnesota. Ducks and geese are everywhere. Free handouts from everyone that comes along. Winter comes.......now you hv birds that don't remember why they fly south, to cold out for any folks to come and feed them anymore. So........what do we do? Why we put in pumps to keep the water open of course. We also stock the ponds and have the city workers feed them. Bird crap every where.
Then the city spends money cleaning the crap filled ponds. Hire folks with dogs to make the birds fly away. Of course they come back.....and get fed...
Cool pics! I would guess they've gotten used to handouts since they came so close.
Nice looking park, surprised yours was the only vehicle there.
But I'm sure that was kinda nice. Fewer worries!
Our granddaughter loves going to the park and feeding the ducks!

55°F, 30 MPH winds and 1330 on a Thursday so not many people willing to rough it. In better weather the park is normally packed. I also framed the pic to get only the roadster in it but there were another dozen or so cars around. Many cyclists and joggers/walkers passed by on the bike path while I was there. A few stopped to look at the car and some teens were snapping pics as I left.
Pretty sure these same two ducks were there last year and have become somewhat domesticated by the food source. If I had food there is no doubt they would have been eating out of my hand.

Ducks and geese around here can sometimes be very agressive... Good pics Rod....
LOL, I wanted to get a shot of the duck sleeping on one foot from the front but that would have put me right in line with the geese and goslings and within 6 ft so I thought the better of it.

If not now when? But I know what you mean, I had to take yesterday (and today) off as one of the days for working to much last year.
