Anyone know if a firm makes fabricated tow hooks that just bolt on somewhere? Something like the one in this pic. Of course it could be fabricated, but I figured I would ask if something off-the-shelf is available first.
Need help finishing your project we can help here or at your shop.
FFR GTM #34 first GTM with working AC. 400 hp LS1 w/G50
FFR coupe 3617CP 331 Stack EFI T-5 IRS Cobra brakes, AC/heat.
Both cars by NRC, we can build (and have built) any FFR product.
We also make and sell a ton of great parts for the FFR community.
Brake kits, AC systems, #1 supplier of Team III wheels.
The Ultima GTR you pictured has the tow hooks Ultima includes with their kit. I am building the same car as you picture above and have the tow hooks. If you'd like I can trace them and post them here. They are simply 3/8" aluminum with a 3" hole and a few bolt holes.
Let me know.

That towhook will not work with the gtm body.
You would need one that comes offf the top of the trans mount. Remember that you have to be able to "lift" with it also. It would work only if you used a 75 ft tow rope, but no lifting. The front is a different story. You will probably have to go through the hood and attach it behind the radiator.
Thanks for bringing this up because I haven't got that far on mine and I do need th tow hooks. I will take a closer look at the locations and placements later today.
Hi my name is Nick, I'm totally scratch building my Cobra and working on several other good car projects. A friend of mine with a FFR sent me here. If you guys want custom parts and can take a measurement I'd love to help you out. Check out some of my Cobra parts at http://www.actoncustom.com/Cobra_Parts.php
Let me know if you need parts or have product suggestions.
It is not a matter of making the parts, it is the design that I need suggestions on. The GTM front frame does not readily lend itself to attaching a good, strong tow hook. I am just looking for ideas, the parts fabrication is the easy part.
On a Trans Am car, as with many others, everything from the water pump forward was/is very light weight and couldn't handle even a pull. The solution was a tow eye welded to the top of the A pillar bar and sticking through the roof. This solved many issues. It can be used from both front and back, and the driver can hold the twisted rope with his left hand so that if things go bad in the tow, he simply lets go and the rope unhooks. If it's allowable in SCCA Trans Am/GT-1, I don't see how there could be many issues with the setup. As a side note, I always thought the tow hook requirement was pretty ridiculous. NASCAR vehicles are not required to have these, and as long as the right tow truck is used and the operators aren't A-holes, body work can be removed and straps placed around the frame in order to tow a vehicle.
