No problem entering here. There has been a great deal of discussion about denying access if the user has fewer than 25 posts; perhaps that has been implemented into the software.
Wow! How does one go about looking at what is for sale if they cant see it? I have nothing to post or comment about because I don't own a car. I want to buy a car but I can't see what is for sale. The "internet police" sure worked out the perfect solution. Oh well, craigslist and the thefactoryfiveforum here I come.
I've been lurking for a few years, and made just a few posts, but now it looks like I'll have to make a couple more before I can see the classifieds. Building a GTM (or 818) is on the list for when I retire, and I just like seeing how other people are building their cars.
OK, I need 5 more to read the classifieds. But I'll try to add substance rather than just putting in dummy posts.
My wife and I visited Richard Oben about 4 years ago to check out his GTM. It was great to see him, and he was very kind to take some time to talk to us about the challenges in building the car.
First car I wanted to build was a FFR Roadster. Got a ride in a couple - one FFR mk3 with a Procharged 5.0, one Shelby "continuation" with a 427 SO. Great cars, but I figured I needed something I could drive when it rains.
Daily driver is an 02 Miata with an FMII turbo, about 242 rwhp in a 2400 lb car. When compared to a Roadster, it has similar performance with the benefit of roll-up windows and a top. So, I started thinking GTM, something a bit more different than a Miata.
Got scared with the GTM (bodywork mostly), still on the list of possibilities, but I realized my current lifestyle doesn't give me enough time to dedicate the 2k hrs to build the car in a reasonable timeframe.
So that brings us to today - the 818 is looking great! I like the turbo approach (especially living at altitude), and look forward to seeing what the street/coupe version will look like. With minimal bodywork (compared to the GTM), the 818 will probably be a better choice for my first build.
OK, sorry for that, I've got 10 posts, should be able to track the classifieds now!
