Pics of CMS side shifter set up?

I look for cable shifter pictures and see plenty of the front shifter part but can't find any pics of the attachment/set up on the tranny end. I have a CMS side shifter on a G50. Any pics would help alot - Thanks Hoona

The CMS G50 side shifter? I would describe it as the most un-fun set-up I've worked on so far. Both cables at the transaxle end up in the worst possible position for getting them routed, adjusted and tightened. I also felt that it was also the worst shifter feel inside the car. I did not install the CMS shifter set-up......used the Brandwood Cableshift box/cables, but the trans had the side-shifter set-up on it. No offense to CMS as they build some awesome transaxles, but for cable shifting, I see zero advantages to the side-shifter set-up and about 100 disadvantages. It may work out better in a different vehicle, but for the GTM, it's just a real PITA.

You can only use the cables from Brandwood. Not the mechanism. Brandwood mounts on rear of trans whereas the side shift is on the side. Two completely different mounting locations.

Trans already had the side shift on it when I bought it. It takes some getting used to. I wouldn't recommend it unless you need the room behind the trans.

Well, my memory must be going. I went back thru the pics and I see that we did not use a Brandwood cableshifter in that install.....it was a customer supplied production car shifter......Toyota....Honda??? I don't recall what it was out of, but that part is not relevent anyway. I'm sure Cableshift would/could set you up with a shifter that will work. The problems were with cable routing at the trans. One cable ends up way too close to the engine, so you have to put a pretty abrupt curve in the cable to keep it from hitting the back of the engine, and no good way to route it to keep it away from the exhaust. The other cable is 90 degrees to the trans, but instead of being able to route the cable back into the empty space behind the wheel-well, like on a typical G50, you have to route the cable thru the aluminum panels out into the wheel-well, then curve it around and route it back into the engine bay.

The CMS sideshifter assembly is an entirely different breed of cat than the G96.....
