Taking a break from the engine install. Ready to mount the clutch, and flywheel. A question to the Porsche transaxle guys:

Is there a pilot bearing required in this system?

It appears that the flywheel does not allow for one.

I'll be reading through the install notes shortly, just wanted to get this
at both ends so I can run back out and finish up.

Thanks a bunch!

EDIT: I don't see mention of a pilot bearing in the instructions but rather a locator bearing.

The pilot bearing is pressed into the crankshaft and the proper one needs to be installed before the clutch is installed. The transaxle shaft goes through the clutch and into the pilot bearing at the end of the crankshaft. I called KEP and ordered the correct bearing.

See the link below.

FFR pilot bearing.

Thank you, that really helps. I'll have to order a bearing...wish I knew this
a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe this is something I can grab from a local Porsche dealer?

Call Kennedy Engineering Products. Tell them what you have and the transaxle you are putting in. In my case it is an LS engine mating to a G50-52. They had the part in stock.

You know what? False alarm >> inexperience with KEP & Porsche Guy here <<

The bearing is mounted to the flywheel under the clutch disc so I couldn't see it!
When I looked from the other side, it appear to be integral to the disc itself, but
the flywheel is actually a two-piece design with an offset.

Sorry to throw the conversation off topic. Back to transaxle types.

I'm using a G96.00 provided by Eric from GBox.

Erik,

FYI: Your inbox is reporting, "max quota exceeded".

I've been trying to send progress photos of the transaxle install (which is going very well!).

Pictures

Hey there,

I appreciate the photos and I can not quite understand what is going on with our email account. We have been getting quite a few people telling us this recently, but we are still getting the emails.

I am glad to hear that things are going smoothly and keep the pictures coming.
