I don't post here much, but this isn't about me. Here is a copy of a blog
entry that I'd like to share, along with some pictures.
Now that my transaxle has arrived, the good stuff can begin! Maybe I'll
have the go-kart rolling by October (just in time for my b-day!!!)
I'd like to take the time to thank a few people that made the transaxle acquisition painless, and flawless.
Driving from Toronto to meet a delivery in Buffalo isn't the easiest task to co-ordinate. Dan at Con-Way Freight, and his driver
were able to contact me, and arrange the exchange within the hour. They are able to track, and contact their drivers unlike
some companies I've dealt with. Their services are highly recommended.
My buddy Johnny Misso from Extreme Drum and Guitar centre was nice enough to provide the drop-off address, and take some
time from his busy teaching schedule to help out. No questions asked. If you live in the Clarence NY area, and have a family
member wanting musical instruction, give Johnny a call. He is super nice, and has a wealth of musical education, and talent.
Last but not least, Erik at Gbox! Doing business over the phone from across the country, with a total stranger could not have
been more pleasing. Erik stayed on top of the communication via e-mail, and phone. I was never in the dark about the
progress, or deadline dates. He responded to my messages within the business day. He also helped to co-ordinate the delivery
to arrive on a specific date to work with my schedule. The transaxle was well packaged, and arrived safely.

There is an elaborate thread on the other forum called, "Transaxle Particulars"
With some basic calcs, and comparisons for my selection criteria.

Good for you, good thread. Which model of trans did you go with? (I can't tell by looking)
Erik, what would you recommend for a 6speed that wouldn't break the bank yet still hold up to ~450hp?
Hey there,
Happy to answer this question for you. I would recommend the same setup as the OP purchased for you.
It is the following kit:
G96.00 or G96.01 gearbox inverted for mid-engine use with cooler in and out ports.
New OS Giken Super Lock LSD installed
Flywheel and Adaptor
Clutch kit
Bolt Kit
Cable shift kit
Inner CV Joint Kit
Clutch Release Kit
$11,100.00 plus shipping
This is a pretty darn good deal since it is a complete system with everything that you are going to need. We can also supply a gear reduction starter for this as well if you would like for an additional fee.
Let me know if you have any questions that I can help you with.
Great question, I would have to say that it will greatly depend on how you intend to drive the car, but it should be good up to about 500 HP and similar TQ.
It might be okay with a bit more but this seems a safe number at this point.
We also have additional options that will hold quite a bit more HP and TQ, but obviously will have a higher cost.
Thanks Erik. What about gearing changes, are they achievable for a decent cost?
The best way to get better gearing for this gearbox would be to have a 3.10 ring and pinion installed into it. This will allow for all of the gearing to become a bit taller, and will make this gearbox a bit better for V8 cruising.
The downside of this option however is that it adds $3000.00 to the overall cost, so it is not really for the faint of heart. Still all and all if you have the budget, it would make for a really great option, not to mention that it would still be quite a bit less expensive than some of the other options out there currently.
