I'd like to get some input from those of you that are running a G50 without a cooler. Are you satisfied w/o the cooler, have you had any issues? Thanks.

I guess it depends how you plan to use the car. For normal driving I have had no problems with mine and placing a thermocouple on the body of the transaxle on a hot day after driving various distances I have not read above 200F. I have no way to measure the oil temperature directly. For a professional opinion I would check with Roger Brown at California Motorsports, he is very helpful.
Stan (Gbox) overhauled, inverted, and changed 5th&6th my G50 20 and said I didn't need a cooler setup for what I plan (Street use). I purchased some parts from Roger, but never asked him about the cooler setup.
With that info I really want to here what you Guys are experiencing with your non-cooler G50s. Thanks.

Hi Vidal,
I have 3800 miles and no issues thus far. Some track time but mostly all street and highway. Longest single drive was back and forth across our little state of FL the day we met. Car had no issues although the trip back was a lot more fun due to Jeremy's engine tune.
Stock G50, open diff, no cooler. Shane's louvers all around help to keep a lot of air flowing in there.

Vidal,
I have almost 10,000 miles on mine now. I don't have a cooler. I have a 180deg switch mounted to the case that can start an engine bay fan. I've only seen that come on a time or two if I get stuck in traffic.

Gentlemen,
Thanks. That is exactly the type of information I was looking for.

I have a cooler and a gauge with a sensor mounted in the oil. Even in spirited driving on the Tail of the Dragon on a 95 degree day I have not seen temperatures high enough to need the cooler. I think you would need to be on a track to drive hard enought to need it with a relatively stock engine.

Jonathan,
That's great data. Thanks.
