speedo help please

I bought my car as a roller and the wiring was already done, I’m having a problem getting my speedo to work? I found a diagram of the way the previous owner hooked it up, can someone confirm this is the correct way ? I did do a search and read allot about the sensor not being close enough to the wheel but I don’t think this is the case as it’s about 1mm away from it..any info would be great.

What brand of speedometer? Autometer recommends wiring directly to the VSS, not through the computer. That's how I've got mine hooked up.

You should run the VSS through the PCM, it needs the speed usignal, otherwise you will experience stalls (I went through this), I have mine wired like in your picture (not sure about the pins of the ECU). I used the stock ABS sensor of the corvette, the PCM needs to be calibrated for this to get the speed reading right.
That worked perfectly for me!

yes, that is a typical symptom, the PCM needs the speed signal! The PCM can be flashed with HP tuners or similar software, or from any tuning company. I suspect, you do not get any VSS reading at all. If you do not plan to use an anti lock brake, use the right rear wheel sensor.

Good luck......Eugen

It could be that you can adjust that with this tool - but I am not sure. The homepage says, you can calibrate tire sizes, so this could be sufficient. You can calibrate the speedo on its own, so the VSS for the PCM does not have to be precise. Only if you want to log the correct speed. In the first step I would try to get any VSS to the PCM and from there to the speedo and not worry about the calibration. If the PCM detects the movement of the car, it will at least not stall any more.

Eugen
