replacement hood struts

Anyone have any idea on the strut rating for the hood? Mine are already worn out and will not hold the hood open so i need to replace them.

Wink struts

Look on the strut for the part number and then go to Amazon (dot) com to get them for half price of what the speciality stores want for them . . . Paid $23.00 for the two of mine, Autozone wanted $19 each.

JFYI

Keith,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately SUSPA C16-25583 is not available from amazon or any other source that i can find. Suspa website says they are on backorder even from them directly (they want cosloe to $100 if they did have them in stock). Also, they don't list the specs of the strut to find a replacement by lengths.

So, has anyone found a readily available replacement?

Just looked at mine and it has a different number than one referenced below. I have a 3.1, and maybe they changed something.

My number is SUSPA C16-08568. Checked Google, and a few came up at about $17.00.

Hope this helps. Ralph

Ralph,
Thanks for the part number, but according to the SUSPA specs that is a 19.7" 20lb strut and the GTM uses is longer one.

The odd thing is I had no problem finding the specs for the part number Ralph listed, but I cannot find anything on the other.

However I found this in the parts list: 25462 GAS STRUT, 25LB, 35.5” EXTENDED

HTHs.

The part #25462 returns nothing for me (maybe ffr#) . 25LB sounds reasonable. Could someone measure and see if 35.5” EXTENDED is correct and what the compressed length is? I have found a suspa described as:

Product Features

Center-to-Center length
Extended: 35.43”
(900mm)
Compressed: 19.29”
(490mm)

But it is rated for 40lb. Not sure if that would be too much pressure?

Thanks

That's the FFR part number as I cut and past form a digital copy of the parts list.

Has anyone, in need of the struts, called FFR to see what their cost is?

I bought two of them from FFR because I too couldn't find them anywhere else. I think they were around $50 for the pair.

Struts from FFR finally arrived, $50 i think i paid. They still have the suspa c16-25583 which seem to be discontinued. The shocks when installed are 33" extended and 19" compressed. If someone finds a replacement please post here for future seekers.

Hi

Anyone have any news on this, one of my gas springs for the front hood is broken and I have a hard time to find this Suspa part over here in europe, I have a company selling gas springs but then I need to know the ratings.
If anyone knows the force of the spring it will be great.
Otherwise I have to send the spring that still is working to a company here and they can measure the spring (and I can post the ratings here), but tought I should ask here before I do that.
