Today I put the head lights in, pass side window (Did the Dr side yesterday), door trim sheet metal, adjusted the door poppers, checked the oil, took it for a spin (got gas).
I'm waiting for the side mirrors to put the door pannels on, need to get a spedometer issue sorted... then it's time to just enjoy the car and put a bunch of miles on it...

Reason: added a pic
Tonight, the final painting on the chassis and related components. Saturday we will be assembling sheet metal. and suspension. Roller and dash in by Sunday!
Put the motor in tonight. Puts new meaning to the word shoehorn. The motor was a thing of beauty. Headers, ac pump, serpintine system, and thermostat had to be removed to get the engine in. At least I didnt have to remove the clutch. Now that the motor is in I get to put all those things back in.
Very nice to meet you today Spd. It makes sense that you'd be using a little more fuel. It had to have been a little on the lean side before the tune. We're gonna have to find a way to get the Florida GTMs together. That would be a blast.
It's always nice to see you too Vidal. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the road.
Vidal, great meeting both you and Keith. Almost 400 more miles on the clock today. Sucking a little more fuel than before but darn is she snappy now.

Yet another outstanding GTM experience. How often do you get to experience two GTMs on one place....What a way to start the weekend.
I'm expecting another forum member visit on Sunday. We plan to kick up a little fg dust.

i had the pleasure of seeing and going for a ride in spdmon2791 car yeserday. What a wonderful experience. The car is beautiful and the fit and finish is incredible. Under full acceleration it seemed very stable and solid on the road. Kudos to you and to Shane.
I have worked on and driven many ferraris, lambos, panteras etc. but this was much more fun and looks much more unique.
I had never actually seen a finished one in person, (lol).
I was surprised how quiet it was inside and comfortable, (me being 6 foot and 260 lbs.)
I got 13.65-13.7 volts idling, 13.3 volts with full lights on idling, 12.8 volts with the front vette fans kicked on lights and full pumps idling. The starter works great (turns over easily) leaving the house fresh off the float charger. But if I get somewhere, turn the car off and leave the radio on for 10 minutes, I cant start the car at all. The starter engages for a second and sounds like it starts to push the flywheel.. but wont start it up. Battery reads 12.5 volts sitting no charger....
upgrade your alternator, you can get them to put out over 14V, the Optima batteries like to be charged overvoltage.
I like the wheels. What happened to the old ones, how did you go off road?
I was in right lane, teen in left lane. She moved right as she did not see me and I hit brakes and slammed into curb. No real damage other than the wheels

I got a box of parts from Shane, about half of what I will probably end up ordering. it will keep me in the assembling phase for a while. that is of course figuring that I will actually start assembling. I am cleaning a space in the garage for the process, inventorying the parts, reading the manual, gathering tools, asking questions. it looks like I can have it on it's wheels pretty quickly. then I can make motor sounds as I go. actually have the motor, just no trans. so I got enough to keep me busy for a while.
Well ended up going past work. oops how did that happen ?? Got gas and tanks filled fine. Put about 30 miles on first day and all went well. I see a little greece weeping out of driver side axle coupling. (G50-20) Temp max 213F in traffic 80F Ambient. Definitely going to cover more inside of deck lid with reflective insulation. Some bump steer. Still getting feel of steering. Heat from tunnel by feet.
Oh yea, questions, thumbs up, pointing, videoing, stops road workers from working and my MIL saying "Doesn't it have mufflers", Me: yes two, MIL "Oh well at least you can hear it running"

All in all it was a good day.

Outstanding! Do you have any pictures of your GTM? I don't know if I've seen it. What frame number is it?

I purchased Hayabusa's GTM last fall. It was never titled. I have been wringing it out though the winter and spring as time permits. The forum has really helped in resolving various issues. I started the Pennsylvania "special purpose" title process 7 weeks ago. I will post some pictures however the only external change I made was to install Shane's Lovers in the deck lid. I painted them satin black. Most noticeable changes are in the engine bay where I added quite a bit of heat protection and Crash's Cooling Tank Kit. Both item were top notch and more than reasonably priced as you know. I plan to take it to a small car show here in Sewickley, PA this Saturday.

BTW I have hesitated in posting much up to now as I saw there was a controversy on this forum regarding the sale of this car. For the record and to dispel any speculation I would like to state my side of the story. I saw an ad, responded, my wife and I traveled to MA looked the car over agreed to his asking price and made a deposit on the spot. I was not aware of any pending deal until I read about it here after the purchase. Enuf said I hope.
Met Yos from the gt40s/SLC Clubhouse forum and took a look at his LS9 SL-C build. Great Guy and nice car. He'll be by next week end to see the GTM build.

I had a little fun after not getting any car work done for the best part of two months.
Split the rear hatch as I don’t like the idea of removing the rear wing every time I want to pop the hood to check things out.
Using the Targa top latch from my donor to keep it secured with the rear clip being held on with dezus fasteners.
I am still playing with the mounting bracket so the photo is not the final bracket or assembly.

looks good Dave!
thanks for letting us borrow your welder the other day!
Finally got around to mocking up my interior. I used a center console I had fabricated by Front Panel Express. In case anyone cares, the switch above the stereo allows me to view either my front or rear camera at any time. The stereo still displays the rear camera automatically when in reverse. And I did have to get both driver's and passengers dash pods completely recovered. The material was pulling up badly from all the concave areas on the driver's pod, and the passenger pod had to be recovered because I had to move the vent and right edge toward the middle of the car about an inch to clear the door panels. $250 total to completely re-cover both with a very similar material. Dropped it off one day, and it was ready two days later.
Also showing for the first time my 3-gauge cluster. Fits really well within the view line of the Momo steering wheel.
And lastly I installed two 5-inch waterproof fans in the diffuser to keep air moving when at a standstill. I'll probably just run them all the time.
