Twin Turbo GTM?

So I'm new to the forum but I've been poking around here for the past year or so. Anyway, I was on here a while ago and heard someone make mention of a twin turbo GTM they were planning on building. Has anything happened with that project?

Thanks

We are building a twin turbo GTM as well. Motor is an LS1 with forged rods & pistons & ported 243 (LS6/LS2) heads.

Motor is done and we are waiting on the tranny mods right now.

It should actually be fairly easy to do since we are used to building remote mount turbo kits with the engines up front.

Altered Image, when your ready, I can tune it for you. We have lot's of experience tuning forced induction GenIII/IIII engines.

And I'm in CT.

That's a beautiful setup!

Basically, the same configuration I've planned, but without the intercooler.

Are those T3/T4 turbos? Ballbearing?

Nice job Jeff(s)...

Whew! 1000+ hp! Wow. I hope you've already bought your 2nd and 3rd sets of rear tires. Something tells me that you may need them...

A couple pics. It is further along now the X member in the back has been rebiult and looks nice. It's actually some round tubing and plate that make it up. Everything is coming back apart tomorow to do final welding on the pipeing, Wraping the headers, exhaust, intake piping with have a scotch brite finish as well as the rest of the aluminum under the hatch.

Does the turbo exhaust get plumbed into the well wheel above the rear tire (and then get routed to the back)?

I noticed you still have the original hatch latch, throw it in the trash and install the vette latch.

Yes then it exits out the rear under the car behind the tire.
Wrapped the headers tonite, should have the rest of the exhaust wraped tomorow, then starts the reassembly. Waiting on a few fuel line fittings, then final welding of the fuel cells and it should be a runner.

That's what it looks like.

Looking at your work, it seems that you did a great job!

I just want to add, why did you decide to use those air-to-water intercoolers in that configuration? It seems to me like the space above the transmission is not fully utilized. What i mean is, instead of using a peice of Y pipe, to connect the two pipes coming out of the intercoolers, why not have the two charge pipes coming out of the turbos, go straight back and up the same way you have it now, only instead of going into 2 separate intercoolers, you could use a rectangular two-to-one air-to-air intercooler or perhaps your settup is just as efficient in dropping air temps. Maybe rectangular water-to-air can also be used which is 2-1, but i wonder if having it up high with water, might add more weight to the top?

Either way, your work looks great, please post more pictures! One from the outside, looking into the wheel well would be helpful.

I don't think there would be any wrong way of doing it just alot of difrent ways. My feeling on the small A/W coolers was to preserve what little airflow is back there to keep the trans cool. It may have worked as well or beter with one large mount air to air cooler but who knows? As far as the weight it has very small passages for the water inside them I would think 20# full between the two of them. The only part that was a concern was cutting out the rear brace but we have added it back in since. Should be painted up tomorow and start the reasembly.
