Got my rock guards yesterday and I was not impressed. One had a large area of "pits" and it also had a 6 inch black defect. The other guard has dents and defects in it already. I thought they would be a lot nicer looking.

Should I send them back and get better ones?

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm not sure if you like the original looking aluminum rock guards, but I've made several sets for others on this board. I'm sure they would be happy to attest to the quality of them.

If you're interrested, drop me an email, and I'll send some pics (I don't know how to post them yet!).

Just got a carbon fiber dash. I'd be embarrassed to have my name on it. I'm going to send it back. There were a lot of pin holes in it were you can see the sun shine through it almost like a cheese cloth. I'd be very hesitant about ordering any carbon fiber. Iwas disappointed because I was thinking of getting the rock guards also.

my ffr carbon fiber spats look pretty good, not perfect , but good enough for me, i kinda figured they were there to take some abuse and get beat up anyway ,they were purchased about 18 months ago. i have read other posts about the carbon fiber dash , all i have to say is that i am glad i didnt get one. i thought someone was selling some clear "spats", these sounded like a good idea to me. vince

You guys are missing the obvious.

You are BUILDING a car, NOT buying parts.

What you bought was the beginning, not the end product.

I also bought rock guards and a fibre dash.Yes they were rough.

Yes, I spent many hours on them cutting, trimming, grinding, sanding, compounding, polishing and fitting them. They look great. And personal satisfaction of having completed the part is comforting.

by the way, if I were to do it again, I'd fabricate the parts from scratch, raw fabric and resin.

hey bob, if you are right-- why doesnt ffr say that there is additional work needed on these parts? if i buy some dress up parts and find out that theres additional work needed , im gonna be kinda bent out of shape, butttt if i know in advance - thats another story. i guess the easy way to avoid these problems is to tell people in advance that they will have to do additional work to finish the product before install, and not let them find out when they open the box. i myself hate surprises like that. vince

I did think these were "finished" products. Like the stuff from any of the other vendors on this forum. I guess I'm about to learn how to finish carbon fiber parts.

I'll add this to my list of Winter projects.

Maybe you guys have not actually seen the dash.

It definately is not a "finished" part; That is if you expect to have any gauges in your dash.

It is a blank. No guage holes!!!!! Obviously, You have to finish it.

Again, you are building a car, build it and enjoy building it.

Bolt on parts are for riceburners.

My girlfriend bought me the CF rock guards for my birthday. (she has a tendancy to get me stuff for the Cobra that just makes me look-better instead of go-faster)

While Bob L is right, we're "building" not "Buying", for $75 bucks for a couple of CF slabs, I'm expecting "buying" quality here. They were not even close. (additionally, FFR sent me 2-drivers side guards and 0-passenger sides) I sent them back & will use the money for something that makes me go faster.

Chris Evans

PS
I do have the CF dashboard & have 40+ hours in it's installation and am not totally dissapointed with it.

Chris

Chris, I agree the $75 seems a little steep, then again the $138 seems a little low to me.

I really can't figure out the pricing system.

Here's a pic of my dash.

I got an email yesterday from Mark Weber at FFR. Problem resolved. Sending these back and getting new ones.

Thank you Mark.
