With the lower control arm to frame bolts torqued to spec, how stiff should the up and down movement be? With all assembled I have to pull pretty hard on the spindle to get up and down travel...I'm assuming with full car weight this is not an issue

Sounds just about right to me. The manual mentions something about making sure that you torque them while they are parallel with the ground.

I have been told you should leave these loose, or loosen them back up, when you adjust your ride height. Or else, the rubber bushings will always be in a bind. Same with the rear............

Mine are also very ridgid.

Mine were stiff, but you have to remember that you have put a lot of torque on those bolts, pinching the steel sleves that are inside the bushings. Don't forget to loosen those bolts before you put on the rest of the suspension, and leave them loose until you are don't with the car. You don't tighten them until you set the ride height, with the car jacked up, stands under the suspension, not the frame.

The question can't be answered correctly until you tell us if you have stock donor LCA's or FFR tubular units.

In addition, if all your bushings are poly, you can go ahead and torque them before setting the ride height.
