Got to see and sit in a roadster this weekend. It's got me hooked since I know I can fit in one and be comfortable now. Only change I would like to make is for the foot box to have a little more room. Is this something that has been done before? I just have really wide feet and need just a little more room. Any help is greatly appreciated. Really got the bug to build one now.

If you sat in a MKII, you may be able to reroute the new bar they have put in to give you more room.

The car I sat in was the older chassis. The foot box was dropped but id it had maybe another 2 inches in side to side room it would be better for me. Maybe smaller pedals would make a difference since he had large ones and not the small AC style ones. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

John, smaller pedals AND getting them placed right for you will help a lot. Changing the box and making it wider would be difficult, take a good look in an engine compartment, you'll get a better idea of the problems.

with a little crafty aluminum work, you probably could widen that foot box out to the outside of the car. Maybe 2 inches at the place you would need it the most. it would have to taper to zero at the bottem of the foot box. THe body touches the foot box there.

Getting extra space to the other side of the foot box, beside the gas pedal, would be a bigger problem.

TO MY knowledge, No one has ever done this in the past. and you might have problems getting the body down over that new whampus on the side of the foot box.

Thanks for the replys, I think it may be ok if I use the smaller pedals. With the wide pedals I would have to twist my foot to get it to the side of the clutch. With building this car it will become my primary autocross car. So pedal placement, seats etc.. are my primary concern. I guess my option is to just play with the pedal placemet or maybe go with an aftermarket pedal assembly. I will just have to see what I can modify before the body goes on. Thanks for the ideas.

With the stock pedals I had to twist my foot to get it past the clutch pedal. I didn't feel it was safe in an emergency stop. I had visions of jamming my sneaker between the clutch pedal and footbox. I switched to the AC pedals and now have no problem. In hindsight, I could have also cut down the left side of the clutch pedal and achieved the same thing but those AC pedals sure look cool.
