How much paint for car? 2qts....1gal?

Going to pick up paint tommorow. How much should I get? I think 2 qts should do it, considering adding the reducer. I am going PPG Viper blue with white stripes (BC/CC). I'll be shooting it over a gray primer with a HVLP gun. Also it has no hard top.

I used about 2/3 of a gallon of blue just on the body. Still have the doors, hood, and trunk lid to go.

I did use a siphon feed gun.

A quart of white is plenty.

I should start by saying I have never painted a car before and really don't know what the hell I'm doing. Now. The guy's at the paint store suggested getting 3 quarts but it was only another $10 to just get a gallon and I figured (quite wisely) that it might be handy to have some extra for screw ups. Just something to think about.

I just painted a cobra viper blue today. I used 2 quarts just for the body. it doesn't cover well so make sure you use the correct base. I sprayed a light blue seal coat followed by 4 coats of base reduced 125% and activated with a 1.4 SataNR95 gravity feed gun. it does look awesome. get a gallon, you'll need it. cheers, SRP

I painted mine MYSELF. A professional Painter said he thought he could probably paint it with 2 quarts. SO, i over bought by 50% and got 3 quarts. SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A GALLON. It got Very VERY close.

A gallon is not that much more.

This is my first time using a Sharpe HVLP gun.

I got 1 qt of Artic white and a gallon of Viper blue. I shot the white late this morning, and will be taping tonight.
