8.8 IRS Longevity

I've chosen to run a alloy IRS for my coupe which will see action primarily as a road course, Hillclimb and sprint car.

Is there any set up tricks or mods that can be done to improve longevity used by those who drag race? Any set up to limit wheel hop and improve launch?

Current set up 3.55 gear, Torsen T2, solid mounted housing, rose jointed a arms and spindles, Drive shaft shop Axles and CV's.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
I assemble the new Ford Racing IRS, gears & Torsen or Trac Loc housing and would recommend the 31 spline CV shafts from the Driveshaft Shop.
For drag racing you'll need a pair or drag slicks or street drag radials and lauch at lower RPMs so the shock doesn't break parts. Remember this car is very light and moves quickly....
Have fun building your car.

Also, there are some particular NHRA rules about that. As I recall, you'll need safety loops for each axle shaft.

I use a cast iron case, Detroit TruTrak, and upgraded axles. I'v been beating the stuffings out of them for years, and they seem to be holding up just fine. But I don't do any drag racing.
