I ran a few runs in my ffr soon after I completed it a few years ago, did ok - 13.2s, Im thinking about going again this week. will my autocross tires (Kumho V710) help with traction off the line? my street tires are BFG g force KDs that are 5 years old but only a few K on them. Thanks, Karl

Neither tire is optimum for drag racing but I would think that the softer compound and increased contact patch of the V710 would be a decent advantage over the KD's.

I'v tried it with b oth the V710 and BFG KDW. The V710 was significantly better.

The V710's won't wrinkle like a drag tire. And I don't have a whole lot of experiance. But I seemed to get best traction around 22psi.

well my best run out of 4 was a 13.4 @ 103mph Didn't save old slips so i cant really compare to my last time out but it was still fun. I'm sure with practice and the right tires it would be capable of sub 13 sec. best 60ft was 2.12 and best 330ft 5.7
on a side note One of Mauis finest stopped me on the way home but let me go on my way with out a ticket, which I am grateful for. :-) Aloha, Karl

If he stopped you for the tires, they are DOT legal.
Karl what type of surface were you running on? You should be able to get a significantly better 60ft time than you did. On a well prepped track you should be in the 1.6 range or faster like Todd.

Leonard, he was attracted by the loud exhaust, the numbers on the windshield probably didn't help. he said he could cite me for loud pipes, illegal tires and 15 over the limit! I chose not to argue, He also liked the car and asked how I did at the races, he really was looking for impaired drivers so he let me go.
MJN, the surface is asphalt, of the four other cars that ran against me one had a 1.47 60ft and he ran a 10.65 ET the late model vette that ran against me got a 1.98 60ft and a 12.03 ET. I will admit my launches need work but the waiting between runs was lame. I dont think I'll do much drag racing unless I need to tune a new setup. Karl
