The above link is an in car vid from Maple Grove, PA. last year of our nitrous ProMod car at 6.33 ET @ 224 MPH. It just happened to be a very smooth ride and it gives a little insight into what goes on in the car during a pass.
Hope you enjoy, sorry guys it ain't a "FORD" !!!
Thanx,
Bob Blasi

wanted to worked on the pit crew of a promod last year for a few races and watched them tune the engine one day.. blower took about 150HP just to spin it.. hmmm 2600HP into the FFR..
Jim,
Yes, by all means a chute was used, 2 in fact. If you watch the vid closely you will see his hand go up to activate the chute lever shortly after the last shift. Another telltale are the straps on top of the transmission, under acceleration they are laying flat and as soon as the chutes open the straps lift up. Realize here that it takes just over 6 seconds to reach a terminal speed of 223/224 MPH and only about 3 seconds to get down to 40/50 MPH. The in car accelerometer shows about 3G's under acceleration and drops very quickly on deceleration to about 4/5G's against the harness in stopping.
With the weight of the car in racing trim at 2400 lbs. + the chutes are mandatory for stopping. Particularly since the rear tires being as large as they are and only having 4.5 PSI, tend to start bouncing as soon as the brakes are applied and bouncing tires have little patch contact and consequently very little effect on braking.
Hope I answered and didn't confuse.

From all of my reading in Drag Illustrated , they say that Pro Mod cars are the toughest to drive.
I wish the rules would say something like 72' and earlier bodies only
I think the old car bodies is one of the biggest draws to Pro Mod.
Do you run any ADRL races..
You guys need to go to their site and click on their photos, go full screen and do a slide show.. awesome
Hopefully once we get set up in N.C. i'm sure we will meet somewhere !!
Bob Blasi
PS: Good luck with selling your car I saw the picture spread somewhere and it really looks nice. I sent mine to Germany a bit back and the deal was fairly easy to work with.

Had a tough year in 2010 with logistics, trying to incorporate a move down south and with the car in NJ and the driver already in NC. Should be out more with it in 2011 since all will be in NC.
We did however get a pass finally with the 903 C.I. at ATCO which is following. The test was made and shut off at about 900 feet and the qualifier was our last chance to make the field which we did and then fouled on the first round of eliminations. I think the driver was a little rusty since he hadn't been in the car for about 6 months . In the qualifier vid. we are the next to last car to go. Lots of slippin snd slidin.
Love it ... who is your new 903 from
I read that Sonny is working on a 1000inch motor
Al,
The motor is one of MUSI,s pieces with EFI. Really nice to work with especially when you whip out the computer to tune it up !!! With ref to the new 1000 CI piece from Sonny, I believe it is still in the dream stage.
I'll let you know when we are ready to get back out with the car and perhaps we can finally meet face to face.
Right now we are in NC visiting and cleaning up some loose ends on the house here.
Talk to you more.
Brgds,
Bob Blasi
