How to remove cone marks from sidepipes

I brushed a few cones this w/e, how do I remove the burnt-on plastic from my ceramic sidepipes?

If you heat the area lightly with a propane tourch and use fine steel wool to remove it once it gets a little soft it shoud clean up nicely. Also do not put a car cover on your car when it is hot as it also burns and sticks to the side pipes. If you check my screen name you can see I've had a bit of experience with this.

Get your Auto X group to buy silicon rubber cones they are softer (less impact damage) and don't melt on the side pipes. I have have finished more than one run with a cone wedged between the pipe and the body without it melting.

Thanks Basher,

As I was cleaning one side the thought occurred to me that the same heat that had melted the cones in the first place would be adequate, so I hit the engine and when the pipes warmed up the melted plastic came right off w/the steel wool. Next w/e I'll give the pipes a swipe w/the wool before I head home!
