Very General Tire/rim size question

I just picked up a couple of sets of rims and tires.

I currently have 17X9 275/45/17 front and 17X10.5 315/35/17 rears, they are with terrible tires.

The new rims are 17X9 with a MUCH better street/race tires that are 275/45/17 all around.

Will having the same size all around hurt or help?
Would having rear 315/35/17 on a 10.5 rim be better?

NO SWAY BARS, 3 link, Koni FFR all around with stock spring rates.

It seems that the preference is for 315 / 275 for Auto X and 275 all round for open track use. 315 / 255 for street use. Of course YMMV.

Like Mike said...

I was 275 square last season, but 315 backs next season. I am hoping between that sway bar, and the Torsen T2 I will have better traction in the back..

And while I have your attention:

John Mciver, MMarshall and I met up at the final SCCA TireRack tour stop in Nashville in October. We had an awesome time, and talked a little about what we could do to get more people to an event for some racing and socializing.

One thought that came to mind was attending the Blytheville, AR tour stop. This event is generally in early June, so not too hot.

Blytheville, AR is due north of Memphis, off I-55, and near the Arkansas/Missouri border. I have attached a copy of the course at the last event, and this is a flat concrete surface, so lots of grip. this is a pretty central location from anywhere in the east or Midwest.

One idea would be to give trophies just for FFR cars running in XP, and we would hand them out based on our times alone. I might try to get Dave to help out with trophies.

I can imagine 10-15 FFR cars at this event based on the folks that post here.

I know it is a way off, but let me know your thoughts and if you would be interested in something like this.

Bob

Great idea but it's 634 miles one way or roughly 11 hours with stops. That's a just a little too far for me.

Thank you for the great advice on" SEAT TIME"

However I think after our most recent track event I have displayed my natural talents and made up for a lack of "SEAT TIME".....

IN OTHER WORDS I KICKED YOUR BUT! AND YOU OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS BUT.

Ok playing on 6hp gocarts is a real test of autox skills. You also beat john george and dave smith I'm sure you'll kick their butt in an FFR as well

Man you guys are brutal!

Yet you won't go to Blytheville and put your money where your mouth. Hmmm.

Sounds like you Yankees are a little chicken.. You DID win the war after all.

It's possible. I was trying to make it more central to everyone, including upper and lower midwest folks.
