What gun works the compressor more - HVLP or conventional?

Does a HVLP require a larger capacity air supply than the older conventional style guns? Why are painters going to HVLP these days?

HVLP uses less air & more paint goes on what you are painting, much less overspray.....

no..... an HVLP in almost all cases uses MORE air and has higher demands from your compressor than conventional guns, you have to check the specs of your gun, some new hvlp are THE most demanding , air wise. but they do have less overspray

you may want to look at a reduced pressure gun, if your used to a conventional the hvlp may require some time to get used to, i use a sata rp.......Vinny
