I have a Mark one that was started by the previous owner. I have finished up just about everything else but the body work. It looks like he ground out the seams and filled them, but it appears to be bondo. I am not that familiar with the different types of fillers ect used in body work but it is the red color. There is still more filling sanding to be done. Doors, hood and trunk need to be adjusted and lined up better.
My question is how will the bondo effect the paint verses the Rage?
Should I try and remove it?

Since it is definately not the high strength filler that is needed to fill the ground out seems I would grind it ALL out of there and start over with the right stuff.. Bondo of any type will not suffice down in the seem line. It needs to be either the 3M High Strength Repair Filler or West Systems epoxy.. Then Rage over the top.

How should I remove it? Would a dremel work or ?? I am afraid to take too much since it will be hard to see what he did originally.
Thanks

that red stuff looks more like old acrylic spot glaze than bondo, unless he used the whole tube of hardener in one mix. anyhow, yes remove it, a dremel will work, just be sure to bevel out the edges. good luck, cheers, SRP

Jim,
Forget the dremel - it will take you all week to carve out the stuff Get one of these and chuck it in a die grinder, they're called Kutzall tungsten carbide burrs.

They cut so fast you have to be careful with the pressure you put on the tool. I use the one labeled as K and you can pick them up at Woodcraft stores as well as other good woodworking stores.
