ATTENTION ALL COBRA DRIVERS: We will be meeting at the Charbonneau Rest Stop on I-5 at 9am on Saturday the 29th. All of you Seattle guys please try to make this event. From there we will head south to the Kaiser-Salem exit to Independence. This is a one time event. There will be several original members of the Shelby American team there. Please be prompt because the parade starts at 10:45am. Please pass this info on to any mustang/cobra people you know. My goal is to get 25 Cascade Cobra cars to this event please help me out. Erica will be doing the blanket e-mails and Eric will post a map of our course. Chris Mann will head up the Southerners to either meet with us in Salem or at the Parade gathering point in Independence. DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT !!---thanks Don
Below is a link to a map of the route from the Baldock Rest Area (just south of Charbonneau) to the gathering point in Monmouth/Independence. Please note that we will be approaching the Central Plaza Shopping Center from the west (off of 99W) in order to avoid passing the Riverview Park in Independence where the parade will end. Check Don's post above for more info.
OK, true to oregon the only day it is going to be possibly wet is saturday...no wonder I long for So. Cali. who's going even if its a bit gray & moist.

I see no rain in the forecast I'm looking at. I'm still going. I'm sure it will dry out in the mid day if there is any sprinkle.
I checked out the website for the festival in Independence. Sounds really fun! Tractor pulls, lawnmower racing, pancake breakfast, hot air ballons, etc. Even fireworks at 8pm if anyone stays that long! I'm really looking forward to it and plan on bringing the whole family. http://www.independencehopandheritage.com/
See you guys in the morning...

Was great weather and a great turn out to honor the life of Carroll Shelby. There were lots of stories by Allen Grant and lots of beautiful cars. We did the "Thunder" at 3pm followed by a minute of silence.
We counted 31 roadsters and approx. 50 Shelby Mustangs. Was great to see some folks we hadn't see in awhile and to get to meet new ones too.
John B, sorry that you had engine troubles and had to be towed but it was great to see you again.
I've placed a few pictures in an album in the gallery. If you have some that you would like to add to mine please feel free to do so. If you don't want to register for the gallery just send them to me and I'll post them for you.
I agree a beautiful day, great cars wonderful setting and as usual fantastic people. A huge thanks to Erica for the car plaques and posting all the e-mails!!! THANK YOU---Don

Once we got everyone pointed in the right direction we had a pretty impressive string of snakes going down the road. I still can't believe we got that many cars (18?) through Salem without getting broken up.
Once we got into Monmouth everyone had a chance to compare rides and catch up with folks that some of us hadn't seen in a while. The southern group came in with 11 cars shortly after we arrived from the north.
Once at the park we got a greeting by Allen Grant and then folks pretty much wandered around and did more gawking. Again, there sure were a lot of cars.
Those who stayed around for a while got to do the "Thunder at 3" where everyone started their cars at 3:00 and ran the engines up as a final tribute to Shel.
Had a good time even if we were in one spot for quite a while. We usually only stay at these things for an hour or two before we feel the need to get on the road. I guess we were on our good behavior.
