Another great adventure!! First a huge thanks to Dick and Judy for hosting this!!! Next, I had fun for a short run on the auto cross track. Mark Law and Dick gave rides to the very courageous. We then went to the drag race track and I was really tired so I decided not to drag race(which I now regret). Butch, Thomas and Don Henning gave it a go and it looked like a blast. Even though Thomas didn't make it into the nines he still had the highest speed--144mph!!! Yikes!! Butch did really well with his patented hole shot while Don Hening did very well. We went to pizza afterwards and then hit the hay. Saturday turned very hot so we headed up to Crater Lake. About 30 miles out we pulled into a gas station/store. I shifted from 5th to 4th to 3rd and couldn't get it out of 3rd gear!! What the ---? My tranny locked in 3rd. So I left my car at the station and hitched a ride with Thomas while Billy went with Don Henning. We had a glorious ride to Crater Lake, fantastic scenery and snow! After a couple of stops we had a good lunch at the Rim restuarant. We headed back to pick up my car at the station. After going over a few options I decided to drive my car as far as I could(in 3rd gear) then go get the trailer. Steve and Julie were in front while Thomas guarded my back. We timed the majority of stop lights and ended up getting pretty close to Jacksonville so it took a short time to go bring the trailer back. Once again Club members stepped up and lent a helping hand. Billy and I would like to thank Don Henning, Thomas Walker and Steve/Julie for coming to our rescue.--Don
What a great weekend. Thank you so much to Dick and Judy for putting up with us once again this year. My framing to my car ramps broke off and Dick whipped out his welder and fixed them better than new.
The autocross and drags were a kick, and the drive up to Crater Lake and back was just hypnotic. We capped it off with a barbecue, beverages, and lots of laughter at Dick and Judy's beautiful home. They even have a couple of bucks that appear to be trained to lay at the gate to their driveway.
I've got some video of the autocross and drags I'll post soon. Couple pics of our run to Crater lake coming up. Cheers.
Thomas
As always Dick and Judy out did themselves. Great time had by all. D & J.....sorry about the screen door incident..........at least I saved the salad and the shirt will survive (I think Butch tripped me so I'm going to blame him). Thanks again for the accommodations, good friends, a bunch of laughs, and good food. You're the best.
WOW! What a weekend. Many thanks to Dick and Judy for hosting this. As president I am considering establishing a "Calhoun award" for hospitality above and beyond the call.LOL Wonderful time, with great people.
Yes, Butch did put it to me at the drags. Second race would have been close, but a lack of traction caused me a moment of large eyes Maybe next time.
Yes, it was an awesome time. Thanks Dick and Judy from Bruce and Toffer. It was a great "road trip" for a Dad and Son and a forever memory for us. What a great time and I sure hope to do it many times again in the years to come.
Ed, you'll have to wait for the video. Nobody in our group was able to 60 ft better than 1.8s. Kind of funny when you consider I can fairly consistently 60 ft 1.8s on the street. I talked to a track worker who admitted the track is really slippery until they have one of their major events and pro cars put down some serious rubber. I should have the video posted on Thursday which is my next day off. My 1st race was kinda cool because I went up against a Lotus 7 replica that reportedly weighed 1500 lbs and made 500 hp. Cheers.
Thomas
I would just love to see you in the 9's! You make enough power and have the right trans. I just know you can get down there. I also want to know how well Butch ran with his new bigger motor. I wish I could have gone. Next year.....
Ed

Hi all,
Mel & I want to thank Dick & Judy for "hosting"this event again. Truely one of the best events every yr! Thank You again Dick & Judy. Weather was fantastic this yr(maybe a 'lil too hot?) Great folks too!! We all started out @ the auto-cross track late friday afternoon & some of our folks gave rides to people that donated to the Medford Cruise for Kids. Than we went next door to drag strip. First time out for 'ol 1437 with her new motor. I ran in the low very 12s. Just wanted feel for the new motor. No wet burn-outs,no dropping air down in the MT/Et's, no hard launches or power shifting, I did short shift & back off gas several times(no traction) on every run. 60ft. was in the 1.80s, 1/8mi @8secs flat, 115ish mph @ traps1/4 mi. I went very easy on Don H., but, next time down the hammer comes down!!(lol) 'Ol 1437 should run mid 11s pretty easy? Very happy with new motor!! Sunday morning with Mel driving, we headed out on Hwy 140 due east towards K-Falls. What a pretty drive!!! We than hit Hwy 97 north till Hwy 58 and west to Oakridge for a couple of days, than Hwy 58 to I-5 to home. 856 miles @ 23 mpg average with Mel doing all the driving except me doing some 1/4 mi. driving Great trip, thanks everyone--
Butch & Mel
PS
Hey Eric, I have some nice pics I'll send you for posting here? Thanks
