Fire Urgent action needed from Texas members

I received this email yesterday from SEMA:

http://echo.bluehornet.com/hostedema...3AB95FC4491B29

The bill is up for committee hearing on 3/16. I have emailed all the committee members asking for their support. Please take a few minutes to do the same. The bill, if passed, has all kinds of benefits for us!!

Email sent to all Transportation Committee members. The link to SAN didn't work, but I googled it and joined.

Any fall out on this? I got on board too late, but I'd really like to follow this. It would make life much easier for any future projects. How can I find out if there was any action?

There's been no update from SEMA.

When I tried to look up the status online, it says "Left pending in committee". See:
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLoo...82R&Bill=HB890

No idea on specifics but I don't think this is good...since the TX legislature only meets every couple of years, if the bill dies in committee then it has no chance of being revived for at least a couple of years.

Sounds like situation normal for our fine legislators. They forgot to pass some cash along with the paper.

Hey, look here - the bill passed the committee, and now needs to be voted on by the full House!

See:
http://echo.bluehornet.com/hostedema...740DB72AFA6AAD

I am going to write an email to the entire house, should be pretty simple to cut and paste the entire email block shown. Suggest y'all do the same!

Scheduled for full house vote on 4/26 - please email your Representative NOW if you have not already done so!

And more on the subject! Looks like it passed the House unanimously (!) and now goes to the Texas State Senate. Currently in the Senate Transportation Committee. See the SEMA notification below - and please take the time to email the Senators on the list!

http://echo.bluehornet.com/hostedema...C1A0056DA3F815

BTW this is the first time I'm ever following the process of creating a new law - sure seems cumbersome...

Making some serious progress here!

Looks like it is out of Senate committee and now scheduled for a full vote in the Senate.

Texas Street Rod and Custom Vehicle Bill Approved by Senate Transportation Committee; Moves Next to Full Senate

This is the last step to be passed as law and sent to Rick Perry for his signature! The bill has not seen much opposition yet but let's be sure of it - so please write your Senator or better yet just copy and paste the entire email block given at the link above.

I'm also going to make a post under the main forum to get some traffic here for the final push...!

I did my part, Ram -- e-mail them all, as well as an individual e-mail to my local senator, who happens to be a long-time family friend. Let's hope it is smooth sailing for the bill from here on out!

Cheers, John

Well it has passed. Now it is up to the governor to sign it.

Will be interesting to see how well (or not) it is implemented. I can just see going to the local tax office and arguing with the clerk who has never heard of and knows nothing about this new law... (assuming of course Perry does the right thing and this does become law).
