Cool Gateway Cobra Club of St. Louis Nw Arkansas Cruise

Sorry for the long title, wanted to draw attention to those that know about our club and for those living in the area. Plans are set for GCC to cruise the highways and biways of Nw Arkansas. We will be arriving in Harrision, AR 11/5 (pending weather of course). The plan is to leave Harrison 11/6 at 8am en-route to Mt. Magazine, Ar for lunch at the lodge. Once done there, we will head back to Harrison for the night. If you would like to cruise with us or meet us for lunch, let me know so I can give a count to the lodge. We also plan to cruise on Saturday 11/7 East from Harrison and get back early in case some want to go to Eureka Springs or to Branson. Hope you can join us.

Thanks,
Tim
V.P. Gateway Cobra Club

This is a great group of Cobra guys and anything they do will be done with the utmost planning. I wish I could be there but I have to be in Dallas that weekend. Tim Mauldin and Mark Earls et al. have choosen a great cruise for sceenary and driving fun thru the Boston and Arkoma mountains. I can assure you that anyone that joins the cruise for a day or the weekend will have a great time.

Have fun, it looks like the weather is going to be great for this. Long range weather is 70's and clear the whole weekend.

Started uploading pictures to a group album on photobucket - http://gs166.photobucket.com/groups/u84/LO2B7HUQF3/

If you've never been to Nw Arkansas, it was a treat. I ended up driving around 500 miles in two days (some over 800 as they drove down from St. Louis). The roads and scenery were great and time spent with friends better. Met some great people from the area (Richard L, Richard S, David & Sher, Wendell P, Jay, Jim, & Chris) and found a road or two I didn't know about. We plan to make this an annual trip, so keep an eye out about this time next year, we may be back! A few of my favorites, visit the album for many more.

We're practically famous. Anyone remember this guy on Saturday taking pictures on the side of the road, Hwy 341 or Push Mountain Road? Well, he got pics of each car - http://pushmountainpics.dotphoto.com...sp?AID=6021069

Looks like you can order copies.

Ok, I have 4 maybe 5 solid commitments from our group here in St. Louis so I will start planning the routes. Anyone else interested in coming along? Don't let the date scare you too much. The average temps in Arkansas that time of year is:

November

average maximum temperature 61.6
average minimum temperature 42.1
average precipitation 4.15 inches
average snowfall .3 inches
northwesterly winds

Frost starts to become common during this month. The first of November is generally peak fall color in the central to southern parts of the state. As the month progresses, temperatures can frequently change to harsh cold.

Last time we did this, there was a high of 66 on the first day's cruise and a high of 88 on the next day. Looking to go to Eureka Springs, maybe the castle under construction, and or go down Push Mountain road. Hope some of you can join us!

Ok, starting to make plans on this, need to know who all will be coming. I have from our club:
Mark E
Gary O
Jim D
Me

From Arkansas I have:
Wendell
Jay
Larry

Others? Same format as last time, arrive Thursday, cruise on Friday and Saturday, go home (or not) Sunday. Push Mountain Road and the Pig's tail are on the agenda, still looking at other alternatives too. Harrison ok as a home base?

Thumbs up great video from last year Tim

Eureka springs is a neat place from and old artist its cool and brings back the hippie days
may i suggest the road for you guys one day, head to Rock Bridge Mo, they have lodging there and a great restuarant, the trout poles will fit.
the place needs to have reservations about a year in advance. the road is sweet thru Mo and you can dip into Ark. easily.

sorry i am still out, but maybe one day

Here are the proposed route map links. Day one is longer, but with less stops of things to see and do. Day two is shorter with a few stops of things to see and do. The routes are fluid as we see fit during the cruises if we are progressing faster than anticipated or slower. We'll see.

Friday's cruise - Supercruise 1 - Google Maps

Saturday's cruise - Supercruise 2 - Google Maps

Any suggestions welcome.

Slight change of plans. All the hotels are full in Harrison 11/4, but have plenty of rooms 11/3 and 11/5. We could spend the night on the road (Russellville) Friday night....stay tuned or post some ideas.

If you are thinking of stopping over for the night while "on the road" I would suggest extending the loop further south towards Mt. Magazine maybe. North from there around I-40 there should be plenty of places to stay for the night.

Maybe something like this

John, with the weather forecast, the lack of rooms for the 4th, and me having a trip to Mt. Nebo the following week, we are moving this to 11/10 - 11/13. We will arrive in Harrison 11/10. Will you be needing a room or just joining us along the way? Can you PM me your e-mail address?
