Doug,
I know that there are a couple of us here in Iowa. I am over in Shellsburg. I finished building my Mark III in 2007 but I am still tinkering with it as I have brake and steering issues to resolve. I know of at least one FFR Mark II Roadster in Marion because he helped me out when I was building mine. At the Goodguy's show in Des Moines, I met a couple of guys from SE Iowa (Mount Pleasant comes to mind) that had there Cobras at the show: one of them was a Mark II. Every once in a while I see other guys from Iowa pop in on the forum. Is your car finished?
Tork

Hey Tork,
Good to hear from someone!!! I know a few other guys here that have FFR's. I'm just trying to see if there would be any interest in having some kind of get together next summer. My car is not finished, it is has been street legal since 7/07 but still in primer without carpet.
Yes, there are a few of us around in eastern Iowa. I'm in Marion and from what I've been told there is another one being built here also.
Tork, It's good to hear from you. We should should do that cruise this year.
Hey guys. Sorry I never responded. I haven't logged in in a long time. I'm in Dubuque and finally got around to licensing mine just before the snow started. I actually took it out this saturday just to put a couple miles on it. You wouldn't believe how many thumbs up you get when you're bundled up in a snowmobile suit and a face mask. I'm still in gel coat and don't have the interior finished, but I had to paint stripes over the gel coat anyway.
My advice if you take it out right now... Stay away from ANY ice. Once the wheels break loose, you have no idea which way you're going to go.
Have fun but stay safe.
-Adam

Although not a current owner, I'm an active FFR 'enthusiast' in Spirit Lake Iowa.
Also, I do not know if Butch C. is listening, he is from Lake Park Iowa (10 miles from me) and has a Blue/White MKII with a 427 stroker if I remember correctly. 351 based I want to say?
Also there is another, albeit a Superformance, owned by a guy named Jason..and his last name eludes me. That has a 460BB, single rollbar, chrome bumpers, & halibrands. A very "pretty" street car.
Oh..ANOTHER! :P I do not know the brand (for lack of seeing it closer than a half-mile) but it is a Blue/White car, owned by Dr. Dotson who is a member of my church. He's got a few Corvettes as well..
Looks like I'm representing all of Northwest Iowa here!

Good to hear from you Logan and Adam. We're starting to get a list going here. I know there are several owners in Des Moines and one from Ames that I met at the Speedway here. Richard Oben's sister lives in DM and he built a car for them. Adam, I'm at the same stage as you, gel coat and no carpet, and have had my car on the road since 7/07. I'm working on adding a Kenne Bell SC this winter after only 1700 miles . Logan, we should get all these guys to come to the Iowa Speedway for the drag races and a get together, what do you think?-Doug
That is a great idea! I bet they'd agree to it rather quickly too, as much fun as it was last time
Any idea when that weekend is this year? The race/car show and everything, or is there more than one weekend? Brett and I are itching to get back down there, and I wouldn't mind racing my motorcycle this time.
I used that event as a topic for a 6 page paper in my Advanced Composition writing class, and wrote about the wild adventure of a few gear heads getting together for an outing. Turned out pretty well.
Anyway, this spring I'll definitely be seeing these guys out and about, and I know most of them already. If I had some specific info I could try to get this going.
Take care, Logan.

#6570 I am located in Burlington in the SE corner. Wasn't aware of any FFR in Mt Pleasant. Was tagged and on the road in gelcoat in September. Body is out to paint (in Mt Pleasant) got all of my additional mods in and am going to install carpet this weekend.

How do you guys like it in Iowa? Illinois is really starting to suck. Thinking of a move. Just some quick yea's or nah's. Otherwise we'll need a new thread.
And it's a yea for place to live. As long as you don't mind snow season. And even those aren't too terrible.

I like it here. The guy is still in Marion, it's Dan Mitchell, he posted above. This has got to be one of the easiest states to register FFR's. The inspector came to my house, said "nice car, where do want the VIN stamped?". I know there are more owners in the Des Moines area. Richard Oben built a car for his sister in West Des Moines.
Doug, I lost your phone # and e-mail address so I am looking to hear from you again. I would also be interested in meeting together with other owners. I just moved my car into position to work on it again this spring Terry
I just bought a used unbuilt kit from Michigan a couple of weeks ago. Looking to make some connections around Iowa. I'm from Cedar Rapids, not too far from some of you guys. Would love to see your builds in person, and get some ideas for mine. - Dan
tmcamp - I live in Ames currently. I attend Iowa State University working on my Mechanical Engineering degree. I live on campus, and as of a few months ago am car-less. But I'd love to drop by sometime, if you wouldn't mind showing off a bit!
Cheers,
Logan

I live in Davenport. Currently not an FF owner but I will be in the future. I am presently in a 12 step program for my automotive addiction. Hopefully I will fall off the wagon soon. Any FF cars ever hit the car shows at Northpark or Southpark??
Still here in Burlington. I have yet to see any other FFR, all I see down here are Vipers. There is supposedly one Superformance in town, but the guy never takes it out.
Pulled the motor in mine last winter and had the local race shop stroke it to 408. So much better than the stock 351! Gobs more torque that works great with the setup. Also replaced my second windshield. Cracked in the lower left corner for no reason. FFR replaced it free of charge, said that they had a supplier issue. My experience with them has always been a good one.

I wish I would have went the 351 stroker route. Those things just sound mean in the videos that I see on here. FFR has always been good to me with any problems too. I replaced my hood with an MKIII hood and they gave me a decent discount because mine was warped.
Here is your chance to meet others from Iowa at this years Run N Gun. According to my registrations I have about six of your Hawkeye or Cyclone buddies coming to Run N Gun this year. A couple from Dallas Center, DesMoines, and Grimes. Not all will be driving FFR but they are all in the family.
Come and hang out with us or join us if you like. Check out the registration and see of you know any of our participants. Usually about 10 or 12 will decide to come to Run N Gun on September 18, 2010 and that's okay. Check us out at www.runngun.net or click on this link to see who is registered yet: http://www.runngun.net/index.php?opt...=98&Itemid=129
Hey Dave,
Congrats on joining the fun!!! What are your plans for your build? I assume 351 based on your name. If you have any questions or would like to go for a spin in an "almost" finished MKII let me know.
Doug
