Well I have finally decided that I need a kick in the pants to get over this plateau I seem to be stuck at so I am enlisting help. All are welcome even if you just want to come and BS.
Talking to Mustang Man, Sunday the 29th seems to work for him. What say you guys?
I will spring for food, either cook burgers or order pizza. I have plenty of water, gatorade and beer.
I have a list of what I would like to get done. Here is most of it:
1. I would like to get my suspension buttoned up, it's all on but not tightened down yet.
2. Check all brake fittings and get the calipers on. Then get fluid in the lines and bleed the brakes.
3. Change pan on motor and get it ready to install. Maybe bell housing, clutch and transmission on.
4. If time permits put car on jackstands, put some wheels on and drop the motor and tranny in.
I would luv to. I am in process of land work to build home, let me see how the other 1/2 responds. End of month not good... Lets try, glad your up and going.....
Write your goals on a whiteboard or something, and detail all of the sub-tasks below it and the order they should be done in would also be helpful. Then check them off as you progress. That way your team(s) can look at the board and see what still needs to be done, without consulting with you.
I like build parties, wish I lived closer, I'd enjoy participating.
Make sure you take and post lots of pictures!

I just saw this, thanx to Mark.
I'd love to show and help and/or look helpful.
But my Dad is down visiting from over seas, and we've made a mess of his '65 Stang...sooo that might get in the way of heading down to the build party.
Wish it was the following weekend.
It looks like I can make it. Send me a PM with your address and what time I need to be there.
Jeff

As far as time goes I'm up at 5am so.... Just kidding! Because it gets very hot in my garage I want to make it as early as possible. But it being Sunday and most of you guys have families to attend to how does 9:00 or 9:30 sound to all?
Dress to sweat or bring an extra shirt. I change my shirt a few times a day.
I will PM my address and phone numbers to all who respond to this thread.
Hey,
New to forum and thinking of building mk4 myself. I live in riverview and would like to come learn/help/stare at parts if at all, possible. I am fairly mechanically inclined, occasionally done brake/suspension work, changed a few gaskets here and there, worked on farm equipment but never built a car. If my work schedule and wife will allow, I'm in. If nothing else, I can hand you tools!
Thanks

Just checking to see if your still on for Sunday around 9:30 for the build.
Planning on coming down, unless things fall apart.
I got your PM with contact info.
Thanks
Mike, been super busy at work, but wanted to chime in. It looks like Pete, Tip, and I will be driving down from Lakeland tomorrow, so that's three right there. Looks like Mike (Cobra MD) is still on for it as well, and possibly the Raimondas (Racer 28) so you have three confirmed and possibly five.
We're planning to head out of Lakeland around 8, so we should be there around 9:30 ready to start spinning wrenches. See you tomorrow!

Well we had a great day today!! Everybody was working so hard we almost got the motor in. Here are a few pics of the guilty parties. Seven guys in total, I am so indebted to them all.
Thanks for having me and introducing me around. I really wish I coulda stayed longer and then a little bit more help. there was obviously a wealth of knowledge in the room, and I don't think that changed once I left........lol ...
mikey you got a beautiful build started there just keep it up.

It was a very productive day! And there wasn't a dry shirt in the house, it was warm!
It is always a good thing to have other people look at what you are doing to find errors and different ways to do the same thing. Especially people who know more than you. They were like a swarm of bees, except the stinging part! When it was over I had to go in the house and take a nap, I got tired watching them work so hard.
Thanks to everybody that showed up we got the following done:
Suspension all tightened down and torqued
IRS spacers in all around
Brake lines tightened down, filled with fluid and bled
Pan changed on motor
old dip stick hole tapped and plugged
water neck removed and block cleaned in prep for new one
Flywheel, clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing installed
Transmission bolted to motor
Valve cover change on motor
If we would have had another hour I believe these guys would have got the motor in and the car down on the wheels.
Thanks for the pizza Mikey!
Let me know when the next party will be. I'm on the road a bit, but would be more than happy to head down and spend a few good working hours getting some things knocked off the list.
Go-Kart stage is next!
