Mooresville Steak & Shake Saturday, mountain run after

It's looking like a beautiful Saturday forecast!

8:30AM at the Mooresville Steak & Shake off Hwy 150.

If anyone wants to do a short mountain ride afterward, I'll be happy to map out a route if you don't have other suggestions first. I promised my girlfriend that we'd eat lunch at the Mountainview Restaurant (between Little Switzerland & Spruce Pine), so obviously a run either up or down the Diamondback is in the forecast as well!

Hope to see you there!

Thanks cobraless... I emailed him yesterday and he initially suggested 80 & 181 (the latter of which of course ties in well with the Diamondback). I'm still trying to find out how much time those coming from Mooresville will be able to spend Saturday and plan a route accordingly.

In what part of the mountains are you? I know Jack (ratdog)'s on the other side of Asheville, but I'd love for everybody to get to see his "black widow" if that works out.

This will be my (somewhat timid) passenger's maiden voyage, so she and I at least will be breaking the drive up with lunch at the Mountainview. Either way though, I'd LOVE to get a good, actual enthusiasts' driving day trip together within the next month or so too - I'll ask Tony when he might be available to go and/or be willing to give some valuable insight on that route!

i live just outside of collettsville, on Adako rd at the base of the mtns. 181 is about 7 miles from me. I head up in the mtns using 181 all the time. If its a leasurly drive (wife along) I go up 321 also about 7 miles the other way from my house.

I have been in the mtns with Tony on several occasions and he has taken me on some trips that make the Dragon look like a straight road. Lots of fun.

what area/road are you calling the diamondback??

The Diamondback is 226-A, the back route up the mountain to Little Switzerland.

Ditto... I just happened to notice a t-shirt in the shop there at Little Switzerland one day after I'd stopped to eat lunch there. They've even got a website for it like a mini Tail of the Dragon!

Cool... thanks! It must just be something with certain computers then.

Ken - try my photo album on here too, but I'll shoot you an email this evening with higher-res photos anyway.
