Big British car show Sat in Townsend on Sat

It's at the Tallyhoe Hotel on the right side of the road in Townsend. Entered the FFR a few years ago and got 1st place in the Cobra class. If you want a car show to enter, this might be a good choice.

I'm bringing the TR6 on Sat. Enter or stop by for a look. The weather should be nice.

Greg

Unhappy

Greg
Maybe next year, my MGTD is still in the works, and I'm committed (maybe I should be!), to a show in Blue Ridge Georgia, on Saturday, with the FFR.
Thanks for the post....

This is an MGTD? Looks somewhat like a TR3. Very cool.

Best of luck in your show with the FFR.

Yes, that is a TD...Mine is a '52, and when running, can zoom all the way to 70mph, before self destruct!

Blount British Cars, Ltd. has become a leader in the East Tennessee area by hosting a British Car Gathering each spring. The first year, we "Gathered" at Maryville College for British Day with 16 cars. Since then we have grown to more than 150 British Cars at some shows. The British Car Gathering is now held on the grounds of the Talley Ho Inn in Townsend, Tennessee. The Gathering is open to all British cars and motorcycles.

Each year, the Gathering draws cars from all states surrounding and including Tennessee and as far north as Michigan, as far south as Florida and many other the places in between. Motorcars have ranged from a 1932 Morris sedan and a 1935 MG Airline Coupe to 1950s, 1960s and newer models of MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Minis and Sunbeams. We have also had De Loreans and an Amphicar. We even had an Austin-Healey Boat at one show. Owners range from teenagers to Senior Citizens!

Saturday, May 12:
9:00 – 11:00: Registration open
11:00 – 2:00: Cars and bikes on display; Popular choice voting; lunch can be purchased on the grounds
2:15 – 3:45: Tea for the ladies and tech sessions for the gentlemen
4:00 – 5:00: Trophy presentation
6:00 – 7:30: Dinner at the Carriage House for those who registered
8:00 - 9:00: Gather around the fire pit to relive the day's adventures

I know. I'm still at home debating. Will take the DD if I don't leave by 10:15.

Townsend has a 50% chance now!

Went to the show as a spectator and it was a good turnout. Sherrell was there with his fine FFR and a personal detailer/car bodyguard (his son).

Interestingly, the 3 main builders of the late Don Voorhis's FFR now own British cars. Me the TR6, SPF Dave an original 73 Mini, and Lotus Don a TR4. We did this independently. Funny how that worked out.

The rain held off but it looked bad all day and on the way home, I hit some light rain in Maryville.

Maybe Sherrell has some photos. I was too bummed about not bringing a car to take any. I scored a lead on a TR6 hard top, so that was worth the trip.

Greg

I have a few pics. Will try to upload tomorrow evening...

Several folks wanted my personal detailer / car bodyguard... There should be some money in that somewhere
