Looking for some help...

Anyone want to help me install a Whitby Soft top? I don't think I want to try this alone. Seems you need a few hands to hold everything straight and taut while gluing the front windshield piece. I figure a few sets of eyes would be better that drilling in the wrong spot and having bad holes in my poor old car.

I can come to you.....

Paul the summer is pretty busy but September or October I could fit it in and I'm local
Of course my expertise is lacking but I could hand you a hammer.

If I don;t get it done by then I'll let ya know. It is more I need another set of eyes to check it over as I don;t want to drill holes in the wrong spot and then A little help pulling everything tight before the glue.

Paul,

I'll see if I can get Ron Everitt's help and the 3 of us should get it done in a snap (pun intended).

Paul - Would love to come up and assist, but just starting a new job today. Don't really know what my travel schedule is going to be but I am covering the entire east coast so I suspect I'll be putting in some serious travel time. I'll keep an eye on the post and if I can make it up there I will.

FYI - when Ron at Metal Morphous did the car he sprayed the entire underside with undercoating. Not sure if the soft top snaps need a flat surface underneath to get a proper grip, but figured I'd mention it.

Good luck.

I am happy to help, never done it before, but I am willing..

Crazy idea, why not bring it to Lake George? We can look at it and likely get 'er done with no problem. I know Jammin1 is going to Lake George and he put his on his car I am sure he would pitch in.

It would be hard to do this at the summer run. You really need the punch for the snaps and a work bench for the glueing.I borrowed a punch from a forum memeber and could not imagine doing the job with out this tool. It is a must for a quality job. Plus it will take about 10-12 hours to do the job and if your windsheild is not at the correct angle that would need to be corrected. If you want help I can help but to be honest I just cannot get to it till Semptember. This summer is really busy for me on weekends. Let me know

Thanks guys. I know it takes a while to install for the first time. But if we could at least get it started at some point that would be great. I am fine for waiting till Sept or October, but I think it has to be a sunny day so the top heats up to stretch right? Or so I am told anyway. So I don't think it can be done in Dec., or Jan....LOL.....
I think the windshield is right at 15 degrees because I used the windows to check the angle and they seem right on the money. Same when I used my inclinometer on the windshield posts
Hey this is all so I don't get wet and Kathy's hair doesn't blow around. She hates that.... Plus it will extend my driving time up here in the Fall when the best leaf peeping is.
Thanks again.
Paul

Paul - just wondering if you got your Whitby top on. I have mine 80% done, but need to cut and glue the header still... it's been a while.

Ron - are you still in Shrewsbury? I think the last time I was able to cruise with you guys was the Fall Foliage run up to the peek of Wachusett in October '08... oh, man... that was a while ago...
