Coupes rock...again

Attended a Cobra car show today at Cobra Experience in Martinez.

The Cobra Experience - Shelby Cobra Museum | Event Spaces | Cobra Experience

It was a last minute deal. I got parked right at the front door...well, actually across the drive from the front door.

I was in a class called "All Other Cobras" which basically was anything that was not original...fyi, there were 12+ original Cobra Roadsters. My class had about 25+ cars (kit cars and 8-10 Superformance Rodsters and one Coupe...guess who won the class?

Congrats, Chris!

Sometimes I go through your photo album to see how you did things, because when it comes to detail I think yours is second to none. Hopefully you won't ever show up last minute to a car show I'm at, could be a real downer for me

As a matter of fact I'm just now working on splash panels, and yours is a true inspiration. Wish I had templates...

Great job! Your craftsmanship is beyond reproach! I was glad to get a Summit Racing Kit Car Pick at a weekly cruise 2 weeks back the first time I took mine to a "show". I think they liked the simplicity of my build, it's the only thing that would make sense as there were F5 Cobra's (no other coupes) that had over 75K in them and I'm shy of 30. I just don't have that kind of $ to put into it. If you were there I would have bowed my head in awe! Great job, great build!

Thanks for the kudos.

Truth be told, Russ Thompson was there with his roadster which is very nice. He was going to bring his coupe but had a starter problem...lucky for me

mjazzka, I think splash panel templates would be helpful but they would just be a starting point due to how different each car is.

Congrats Chris.

Can you explain original Cobra? Aluminum bodied originals actually made in the 60's or the Superformance fiberglass bodied Shelby sanctioned that everyone "touts as original" because it has a Shelby badging?

They get real testy when you ask them....

Chris, Your car is detailed as nicely as your build logs. Congrats. How do you like your new induction, Webers, right?

Every Coupe is a replica of CSX2287 in my opinion, even the ones commissioned by Carroll. The Italians took liberties with the original design too.

Don, the "original Cobras" were cars from the early 60's built/assembled in Venice/LA...I think. It was their classification for judging. Superformance cars were in my class...other Cobras.

Glen, the Webers are great now. I found a local guy that tuned them to my engine and driving style...street. A little hard to start but I'm getting better at it. They added a whole bunch of bottom end power.

Coupes rock...again...and again

Coupes just rock...I attended a very large car show put on by the San Jose Mustang Club (VMOA) this past Saturday and guess what...1st place again. The class was basically any thing that was a Shelby "tribute" or "recreation" that wasn't a mustang.

Coupes just rock!!!

Ok, then desperate times call for desperate measures. Knock out the kitchen and put in a display case! It's perfect since your kitchen is right off of the garage!
