My ford 392ci is drinking oil!!!

I have a Ford 392Ci crate motor with 2,800 miles on her. She was purchased in 2006 and from 2006 to 2016 she was only driven 518 miles. I believe the first 80 miles was mostly 1/4 mile times.

i changed the oil in August of last year at roughly 1100 miles. i used 5-50w valvoline VR1. For whatever reason i did not check the oil until recently and the oil had gone down by approximately 3.5qts, in 1400 miles of driving. The pan and filter combination holds 8.5qts of oil. I recently changed the oil in March. Took her to a couple of gatherings and took her to willow springs and put a total of 300 miles on her (the racetrack was 120 of the 300 miles. In those 300 miles she consumed approximately 1.25qts of oil???

she is not burning oil, and even if she was no engine can burn that much. She is not leaking oil, not anywhere!
Any thoughts on what this can be?

Check your PCV and yes and engine can burn that much oil without you knowing it. Pull the plugs and look at them, see if there are specific cylinders that have oily plugs.

I will pull the plugs to see. You think the oil rings might have dried out? She's only got 2xxx miles on her...

The PCV valve was leaking oil out. I replaced it and replaced the crankcase filter with a K&N Crankcase vent filter.

I pulled four plugs, and three out of four had oil on threads and had formed a seal of oil where the plugs seat.

Hopefully that solves the problem, thanks!
