Fuel pressure too high. ?????

I'm running a Carter electric pump for carbed engines like mine that is supposed to put out around 6 psi. I have a regulator, though I really shouldn't need it. My problem is that the pressure sits at around 7.00-7.50 which I think is too high for the needle and seat. No matter what I do to the regulator adjustment the press. never gets below about 6.50, and it shouldn't be that high in the first place! Any ideas?

Much appreciated Gordon! The carb is a QFT 750. I'll rest easier tonight. Hope to see you at the Christmas picnic if we're doing one this year.

Roy, the QFT is on a 347 with Dart heads, fairly radical camshaft, 480 hp. at the flyweel. It works excellent! I had a QFT 680 on my Roadster with a 331. A lot of tunablilty and throttle response is more crisp and snappy than some of the other carbs I've tried.
