I was playing on e-bay yesterday and found a late 60's mustang AC kit that mounts on the under side of the dash with 4 forward outlets. That could be a spot for our cars if you eliminate the connector between the tunnel and the dash. Plus you could make a glove box.
Anybody know if those units are any good?

I don't know what you are paying for the unit but Richards at North Racecars works great and I know it fits.
The Mustang under the dash mount works well if I remember correctly. I had one in my 65 way back when. It will have to be converted from R-12 to R 134. Not a big deal but it will need to be done.
They work good, and the coupe interior is even less of a area that it would need to cool. However, that being said, I would not buy a used or "reconditioned" one as they still make these units as reproductions and using modern coolants and lubrication.
Try looking up Virgina Classic Mustang, Tony Branda, or even CJ Mustang parts. I believe they each sell similar items.
If you're talking about the unit below, it will not fit deep enough in between the tunnel and the dash area without modifying the front trans tunnel, foot box and firewall panels.
The lower dash panel that goes between the tunnel and the upper dash is around 5" deep IIRC.
Here's a picture on the lower dash panel (not a side view), but can see it's not that deep. Using that ac unit the dash would barely cover the blower motors.
Since none of these cars actually had a/c the system from North racers or something similar would be the closest to the look of the originals. They just had some simple vents in the dash which bought outside air into the coup. I put one vent on each end of the dash and one on each side of the foot wells which aren't obvious.

That's exactly what I was thinking regarding "period correct".
Just get Richard's kit and I don't think you will be disappointed.
