Got my kit back in 2010. Had a few back ordered parts which I assume is common. My main back order was for the rear window frame, going on 2 years. Called them up last month to see how much longer it would be delayed and they were not sure. After a month and a half of waiting I called back up today and found out the tooling for the frame for the Plexiglas rear window has been destroyed. So what they are doing is sending me the glass rear window with all the mounting paraphernalia as a substitute. Hope it fits well on my gray body. Those guys are GREAT!
Sweet. Somewhere, I think on Factory Five Forums are detailed instructions on the changes you have to make to do the conversion. Sorry, I don't' have the link.

I looked up a thread from Dave Smith on the FFR forum but the pic links were broken. I've requested to have them either sent to me or fix from FFR. When I get an update I'll reply to this thread again with a link.
I installed the glass on my much older coupe and although it's not perfect I can live with it.Worse case, I have a plastic hatch with frame on the market if you need to go that way.
Glad it worked out for you, but if I had back-ordered parts for 2 years (!!) that I had to keep calling them about to remind them about, I wouldn't be as complimentary. During my build I've had to call them about a few things, and if they need to check something and say they'll call me back, they never do so. I have always had to do all the calling and following up, and each time it's like they have no idea about the previous call, so I have to re-explain everything all over again. Sorry, but I haven't been impressed with their support.

I agree on the returning of calls, but to be fair to F5 I admit I was so involved in the build that I forgot about the rear window frame being back ordered until a couple of months ago when I was nearing the rear hatch work.
Thanks for that video Dave, gives me an idea on how I must modify my dark grey/black body to alow the glass one to fit.
David, thanks for the pics. After looking over both the pictures and the video, I have come to the conclusion that I must have a tweener body. Why? Well first my body was not red, but like the red bodies my lower radius of the rear window is rounded, not squared off like the blue painted first gen that was shown. Anyone else have one that way? I hope this means my fit issues will be minor. John.
John, yours is normal for that vintage. They rounded those corners before making #497, too. I'm eager to see how well yours fits; I might just make that purchase someday myself.
At the open house this year, I bought a glass hatch and did the switch in FFR's parking lot with minimal tools. I also have the grey body. I first sat the glass in the hole and shimmed to create the maximum clearance on all sides, then tightened and bolted in the hinges. A bit tight on the diagonal but clears. The shocks put some pressure on the glass and needed to re-align but all is good.
For the plexiglass frame, I had to cut out about an inch, bend and re-weld so it would probably be fine to build from scratch if you preferred the lexan - the real glass adds so much, I don't know why you would though.
