A/C fit ?

I am in the process of fitting my north car a/c in my coupe. I ran into a minor problem and would like to see some pics of how you fit it into your car. Mine is interfering w/ the valve cover and I might have to move the cutout more outboard to clear the valve cover.

Cool

My A/C bumpout drops vertically from the front of the cross bar and leaves me almost 2" between the bumpout and the valve covers. I have a 302 with the cobra valve covers.

If you have the same motor, could you maybe have the motor mounts swapped to the wrong sides? The difference is about an inch, from what I remember reading on this site.

Here's a pic of mine:

i am about to fit the same unit in I did not realize the valve covers where that close, as i have not installed my engine yet. I have the same set up as you darkpt, did you move your engine forward with the reversed mounts or standard location?

I could see how it might interfere. Mine is pretty far to the passenger side.
Here is a shot of Richard's AC package prior to the engine install, and before I made the cover for the unit.

Here is another shot with the cover and engine.

Cool

I have OEM mounts for a convertible Mustang (they sit just a little lower than standard) and they are mounted the normal way. There could be some variation in where the brackets are welded to the chassis, I suppose.

Test fit the dash if you need to; there's a little bit of room to be had by moving the AC unit toward the dash face. That would let you bring the bumpout in a little.

I have the same unit. I trimmed the front ducts on the AC unit which allowed me to push the AC unit farther back. I re-bent the firewall, pushing out the bottom 3". There is still 3" clearance from the firewall to the valve cover on the passenger side and 2" on the driver side. This gave me enough room to keep all of the AC unit in the dash.

There are bunch of photos and notes on my Flickr site organized in "sets". Here are some links to the AC sets....
