Hey Bob-STL

I'm past social security age, 72. You've got the right attitude. You need to be car savvy for sure, but you know I have'nt come up against anything I couldn't solve with a little help from the guys on the forum. When everybody was whining about the driver's door I just got a red door. Body guy had it fitted in a short time. No major stress. My body guy worked on Corvettes since he was fifteen and he's 58. There isn't anything thats made of fiberglass that stumps him. Glass hatch on my black body fits like a glove. Solid ker-chunk when you close it just like the good ole Fisher bodies. Little cut here, little fill there. You attack items on a case basis and then move on until that great day when you can drive your own creation!!! I am so looking forward to it.

Thumbs up

Bob-Stl: I bought my Coupe kit as a retirement project after teaching for 33 years. Took me two years to build it and I enjoyed the challange. I had good days and bad days but on bad days I went to this forum looking for a solution. If you are a car guy and take pride in your work and enjoy some problem solving issues this is a project for you. I think I had almost a much fun building my Coupe as I do driving it. I'm 65 and would like to build a GTM but the wife says I need to be content with 3 cars. I have a 70 Corvette set up for auto-x, a Coupe set up for Auto-x and an 03 ZO6 for a street car. I'd still like to do a GTM, maybe if I buy her a nice gift for Christmas see will reconsider
PS Big sale going on now at FFR, 50% off on a number of items check it out.

Would I build another after driving mine for 10 years and 20,000 miles, YES
I would build it the same but stay with the mostly stock motor it had before I raced it.
I built all of mine including the body work and paint.
Some of you have seen it at the open house it is not perfect but is a blast to drive or is that pilot....
I built mine before I learned of this forum.... There is a lot of information here that I had to figure out myself in the 4 months that I spent building the complete car.And when I say complete that was in finish paint but minus the few missing trim parts that were on back order.
This car is the most fun of any street car that I have had.
Yes, there were problems to overcome but they are in the past....
And the fun is in the present and future.
Regards,
Mark Maybury

Not sure I would. Compared to my airplane project, from a company with amazingly similar market position... FF could improve many things. Instructions in particular. Yea, yea... The forum. Great people, but I spent a lot and it wasn't so I would have to post questions every time the instructions unnecessarily came up short.

I also had multiple issues with either quality control (missing welds), and wrong parts shipped. Little things, maybe. But it's not how I run a business...having a good excuse.

I guess, do you want to build, or drive. Then again, if you have the equivalent skills of a professional mechanic, and body person, you'll be fine.

My opinion. Probably not popular, but it is what it is. I get frustrated way to often...unnecessrily.
