new glass rear hatch for grey bodies

When at the open house, I replaced the rear hatch (was cracked) with the new glass hatch. Looks really good and adds a professionalism.

Fits quite well - gap is a little bit uneven, and used shims on mounts but it clears everywhere. I put in two rubs that now need repairs but not a big deal. The pass side has a bow that increases the vertical gap. |Mine is ok but some needed to re-glass to match. Easy before paint.

Your mileage may vary.

Looks good. That is one of my next tasks. But it is off to Toronto/Markham for the next few days.

Mine will require more work. Mine is a little tight in the opening so I have to lay some glass on the inside and grind out what I need for clearance. I also am cutting off the mounting points as they are quite off on mine. I am also planning on making some plates and covers which will hide some of the upper mounts. Keep an eye out for that.

Mike,

Looks great! I've got mine stored till I get to that point, but to your point it really finishes of the car well.

Mike

Nice to have met you at the open house. Looks great, almost as good as mine (just joking). I think the black bodies lend themselves better to fitting the glass then the grey bodies.

Mike, I just did mine this past weekend also. Hank Lopez came by to help me with another project and so I jumped at having another set of hands and had him help me place the hatch in the opening.

Fit is very close to yours, I also have the older grey body. It would be a very good fit if the passenger side didn't have that curve. I can live with it and I plan on one more fix at the passenger side front corner where the short section is. It is low there and I'm going to try and shim it up at the hinge mounts and see if it helps.
I relpaced the weather stripping I had installed and used the stuff that came in the hatch kit because it's a bit taller and there are still some areas with a slight gap, I plan on putting some small D weather stripping on the hatch side to seal it up.

It does look nice when it's all clean and shinny!
