Thanks, Rick.
It's interesting: on the Chicane website, they speculate on whether this is CSX2287, the first coupe, and it most certainly is. It's very recognizable, because it's the only one of the three distinctive coupe shapes in which the side windows are higher at the back than at the front. It's too bad that the Cobra Daytona Coupes book is out of print. It's loaded with photos like this. 2287 is closest to what Pete Brock wanted the cars to look like (and most closely resembles his SPF car), although my personal preference is for the last four original cars, by which the Carozzeria Grandsport artisans showed why Italians are so good at making great looking stuff.
Thanks for posting the great pic and info to Chicane!
I had the opportunity of a lifetime yesterday at the Fun in the Sun/AHA Show to spend some time with Peter Brock, and we discussed the lines and overall designs for the various original Coupes.....The SPF/Continuation series most closely follow the lines of Peter's original sketches. The Factory Five Racing Type-65 Coupe closely models the Coupe built by the Italians at Modena.
We talked about aero improvements (he talked, I listened , and venting the cockpit to take advantage of the low pressure area at the top/center section of the roof, as well as moving air out from under the car with a splitter/diffuser system. He was interested in how the FFR Coupe performed at speed, and I shared with him that the car handles great, but that at speeds over 165 mph, she gets a bit light in the front and could use some additional downforce to stabilize the dancing around.......Peter still has lots of great ideas for even further improvements to an already great design!!

After meeting Peter yesterday, I can confirm that the rumors of his approachability, kindness, and generosity are all true.....I asked if he'd be so kind as to sign my car, and he said sure, where? He was laughing pretty hard when I told him it would be very cool if he could sign the slanted tail, and he was cracking up the whole time he was laying down there on the ground to do it....He also signed inside the cockpit for good measure, and left some marker etchings on the car where he thought the roof vents, and the diffuser should go......Really nice guy!
