Chris

Did you paint a black border on the rear glass also?? ...for looks...?

I received my BRE mirrors today. Ordered black rivets and T-bolt Clamps from Summit, switches from Del City and picked up my Cavalier 3rd brake light at the wreckers.

You stole my idea! I don't have many where that one came from!

I like the Cavalier 3rd brake light because it's LED, not too deep and it has a nice flange around the edge which will make it easy to mount.

I was planning on tapping holes in the fiberglass and using 2 SS button head screws to mount mine to the spoiler.

Paul

PS. You can steal that idea too.

It's a very nice light made by Hella and it fits the coupe spoiler nicely.

I think Detroit Kim also used it. I was thinking of using nutserts (or rivnuts) in the glass to bolt the light to...but taping the glass works too.

I took my car to the CHP to get a VIN. Basically all they do is check your receipts to make sure nothing is stolen and assign your car a VIN. Most of the cars I've seen get a sticker with a random VIN but my guy used my FFR number from the Certificate of Origin. He said since it matched the number stamped on the frame I was good to go....of course I still need to get the SMOG check/waiver and then back to the DMV which I'm sure will not like the fact I don't have a CHP VIN sticker.....

Steve, I still have three boxes of stuff to install but I think I can get it registered as is. Still need to install the splash guards, radiator shroud, headliner, grill work, fog lights....

Undercoated hood

I used rattle can Bedliner spray. $8 per can at Kmart. Sanded a bit on the hood first, but not much, mostly to get the biggest resin boogers off. Used some bondo on the panels next to headlights to pretty them up a bit. Had to remake one of my splash guard flanges as the first was not quite right.

Looks nice John. I like that look. I was going to do that in the wheel well areas and paint the rest of the underhood area...but rethinking that...

I decided to build a body buck this week. The painter will need one to work on the car and I can use it to store the body while I do the final assembly. I have my list of materials and going shopping Tuesday morning

John

Did you spray the bedliner before or after painting? My paint guy says do it after for fear of overspray on the bedliner.

Before, I am painting (likely myself) with body on. Touch up of bedliner is easy if needed.

Started my morning sanding on the body, then took a break and did some sanding in the afternoon. Finished off the day with a little evening sanding. Will it ever end?

New slash guards completed

Rear splash guards fabbed, painted and installed. I decide to replace the bend that goes on the door frame to a curve that follows the shape of the body.

This is what it looked like with the body over the splash guards.

This is the new one.

Howdy,

I installed the fuel injectors, fuel Y-block, pressure regulator, fuel filter and the fuel limes from the fuel pump to the fuel rails.

I need to purchase about 3' of Earl's #10 fuel line so I can connect to suction side of the pump to the tank. Then I need to run a return line from the pressure regulator back to the tank.

I also need to make simple mount to hold my fuel filter.

Sorry, no pics. I'll post some later.

Paul

I went to see it.

Body work is slow but progressing...I keep forgetting my camera when I go. Body guy is taking pictures all along and will give them to me when he is done...

I thought waiting for the kit to arrive was tough....this is worse...can't wait!

We need pics! Lots of them!

I've been working on the engine's wiring harness and fuel lines. I would like to start the engine by Oct. 1st and go-cart by the 31st.

Paul

P.S. I'll post pics later.

Yes pictures will come...(look who's talking! )

I ordered the decals (roundels, numbers and sponsor decals).

Finished up some loose ends on the body buck...

I cut new firewall side pieces from templates I had made....(hope they fit better) and also cut a few other aluminium pieces for access panels at the back and the footbox.

Still thinking about a front tow hook set up...

I had to laugh at myself for not posting pics too so here's one........

I'm running a Coil Near Plug distributorless ignition system and I'm using the MSD LS1 style coils so I have to make a bracket to hold them. This is the passenger side setup. I still have some work to do to it but its getting closer.

I had a great weekend fitting interior panels, breaking drill bits and popping rivets. Also laid up my gurney bubble in fiberglass.
My engine is now a short block and the tranny is done.
